Associate Wellness Professional
Job Summary
The Marathon Los Angeles Refinery has an opening for a Wellness Professional. The available schedules for the position are 9/80, 5/40 or 4/1.
Key Responsibilities
1. Executes the Los Angeles Refinery well-being strategy through the development and implementation of programs, resources and educational sessions made available to all employees and eligible family members.
+ Liaisons with Corporate Health & Wellness team and the LA Refinery. Point of contact and works closely with the Medical department on wellness initiatives
+ Conducts tabling events throughout the refinery operations areas, maintenance shops and the laboratory in addition to business offices providing educational and informative resources to all employees
+ Supports refinery operating units as required in various events such as turnarounds, and conducts field visits supporting operating areas
2. Coordinates a variety of well-being programs in support of total worker health and wellbeing on a regular basis, manages the cadence and content for all Los Angeles refining program communications and websites, and strategically plans events for all employees.
+ Produces weekly LAR Health & Wellness update for all employees and coordinate and update LAR Health & Wellness SharePoint site
+ Composes and provide employee health and wellness stories, upcoming events, health focus areas, and relevant information to HR for the LAR Monthly newsletter
+ Coordinates refinery wide activities such annual pickleball tournament, basketball tournament, daily walks, step challenges, and other events
+ Sets schedules, coordinates dates, times, resources, support staff, communications, run events, and follow up communications
+ Coordinates weekend employee wellness hikes, participation in sponsored running events, including the annual Veterans 5k and Long Beach half-marathon
+ Key member and lead on LAR employee events including Community open houses and Employee annual family events like Family Day and Holiday events
3. Provides direction and support for the Los Angeles Refinery champion network along with providing guidance to the established component wellness committees and approval for wellness grant initiatives.
+ Leads LAR Health & Wellness Committee, builds team, sets agenda, schedule, establishes yearly goals, records accomplishments, sets team assignments, and community team events and opportunities to be involved
+ Develops team and ensures Health & Wellness team focus aligns with Refinery Leadership strategic objectives and employee needs
4. Directly supports and consults with Los Angeles Refinery leadership and collaborates with key internal partner organizations including DE&I, Organizational Development, Corporate Communications and Safety.
+ Supports all LAR DE&I teams and provides support and focused presentations
+ Works closely with Community Relations and Government Affairs on aspects of Health Wellness support in the community, i.e. American Heart Association, Veterans Offices, American Red Cross, and First Responders
+ Attends and support Community Advisory Panel with key community partners
5. Assesses program effectiveness by monitoring key performance indicators and generating reports to share with leadership and other stakeholders.
+ Updates refinery leadership on employee participation and progress on various local and corporate Health and Wellness programs
+ Meets bi-weekly with Refinery Leadership sponsors on complete activities, current initiatives and review upcoming events. Ensure continuous alignment with budget
+ Supports other MPC Business units outside of LAR, including ARCO off-site meetings, Martinez Renewable Fuels, Corporate Health & Wellness and other organizations
6. Provides customer service to all engaged employees and eligible family members.
+ Works closely with Medical and Human Resources providing support, information, proper contacts, and wellness assistance to all employees
+ Available for one-on-one health coaching
Education, Experience and Skills
Minimum Qualifications
+ Must have a Bachelors degree in Health Promotion, Exercise Physiology, Psychology, or other health related field. (Education must be obtained/completed prior to start date) (Degree must be accredited in US.)
+ Must have at least 2 years of related experience.
+ Must be proficient in Microsoft: Word, Excel and Outlook.
+ Must be able to wear appropriate PPE, be able to physically perform all tasks in the field and take hair drug test and physical.
+ Must be legally authorized to work in the US without the need for future VISA sponsorship.
+ Travel Requirement is 5% or less. Weekend and off schedule responsibilities and travel between refinery facilities and other business locations as needed.
+ The available schedules for the position are 9/80, 5/40 or 4/1.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Previous wellness coordination experience in a refinery field location is preferred.
There is no relocation for this position.
