Associate Scientist - Imaging and Flow Core

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.  The anticipated wage for this position is

$69,000 - $179,300

The scientist will be an integral part of the immunology team and will provide imaging and flow cytometry expertise to support the immunology portfolio. Primary responsibilities include maintaining equipment, training users on acquisition and analysis, and generating data that drives project decisions.

Representative Key Responsibilities Include

Provide/coordinate training, guidance, and assistance to new and existing users regarding protocols, assay design, instrument operation, and data analysisOperate, maintain, and troubleshoot flow cytometers, confocal microscope, high content imagers, fluorescent slide scanners, spatial transcriptomics instruments and multiplexed DNA-barcoding technologies.Oversee data management, service requirements of all instrumentation, and lab inventory to ensure smooth data workflows and minimal downtime of instrumentation Convey core capabilities to lead scientists in-order-to provide imaging and flow solutions to meet projects needsCollaborate across Lilly research sites and share key takeaways and standard processesKeep up-to-date with emerging technologies and evaluate them in-house when appropriate

Basic Qualifications 

Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science or related field with at least 5 years research experience

Additional Skills/Preferences

Cell and tissue staining experience (preferably immune related tissues), strong skills in flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy, high content imaging, confocal microscopy and spatial transcriptomicsKnowledge of multiplexed fluorescent imaging technologies using DNA barcodingProficiency with flow analysis (FlowJo) and image analysis including segmentation, colocalization, cell type identification, nearest neighbor analysis (ImageJ/Fiji, Halo, Aivia, etc.)Immunology background is highly desirable.Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as teamGood communication skills including presenting results in team meetingsExcellent problem-solving skills and ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks and projectsStrong self-start and self-management skillsExperience scripting in Python
