The Associate Manager, Ad Development partners cross-functionally to plan, develop, implement and provide ownership for the Promotional Plans across Merchandising and Marketing. The Associate Manager is considered a subject matter expert and serves as a key point of contact for Merchandising and Marketing, closely collaborating with these partners in the planning and execution of the Promotional Plans and Weekly Ads.
The Associate Manager also provides day-to-day leadership and direction to the Ad Coordinator team. The Associate Manager partners closely with the Manager, Ad Development, providing status updates, feedback and recommendations on overall team function and progress.

Through this work, the Associate Manager, Ad Development prioritizes the continued transformation of the Promotional Planning process, with focus on the shift from planning seasonally to planning per period and aligning to other key planning cycles throughout the company (i.e., mPerks, Merchandising Presentation, etc.).

What You'll Be Doing:

Partners closely with Director, Marketing Operations and Manager, Ad Development to drive strategic direction of the Promotional Plan in alignment with Merchandising businesses.Develops and implements Promotional Plan, while being flexible to support changing business needs.Oversees team of Ad Coordinators by supervising their daily operations and managing workloads.Leads the Ad Coordinators in the implementation of a consistent process in the coordination and execution of the Meijer Weekly Ads. Closely collaborates with Manager, Ad Development to ensure seamless execution and gain team efficiency.Trains and acclimates new hires to processes and technologies.Focuses on team member development and leverages innovation throughout the organization.In collaboration with Manager, Ad Development, provides project and thought leadership in the design, development, and implementation of Meijer Weekly Ad content planning.Demonstrates high-level of understanding of Weekly Ad processes and timelines, and is able to articulate the impact to both Ad Development and Merchandising with perspective to strategy/changes.Choreographs Weekly Ad page placement with key partners across planning and execution.In collaboration with Manager, Ad Development, reviews all Weekly Ad page requests, providing approval or rejection, and escalating as necessary.Reports and analyzes promotional performance; shares findings to drive insights and recommendations.Actively collaborates with Merchandising, Marketing and Store Operations partners to create an environment in which teams can align on strategy.Understands, monitors, and optimizes all components of the Promotional Planning process, with the goal of delivering the best customer experience.Owns Promotional Planning timeline to ensure proactive, flexible, and responsive communication.Manages accurate, clear, and timely communications across all applicable areas of Meijer.Creates strong partnerships with Marketing teams to develop and communicate customer-centered solutions.Partners with the Merchandising team to successfully and seamlessly execute the Weekly Ads and achieve the financial objectives of Merchant’s weekly/period promotion plan.Accountable for effectively influencing at different levels; taking an idea and garnering support for leaders/teams to bring it to life across different media channels.Manages ambiguity and continually seeks improvements in the Promotional Planning and Weekly Ad execution processes.Conducts ongoing competitor analysis through partnership with Numerator.Actively participates in the continued transformation of print media to personalized digital creative (Digital Ad First initiative).In partnership with the Manager, Ad Development, collaborates with IT department to evaluate current technologies and software usages for maximum efficiencies in Ad design and execution, as well as emergency procedures and processes to ensure ad content gets to distribution network weekly.Participates in rotation of 24/7 on-call status for problem resolutions, as needed.This job profile is not meant to be all inclusive of the responsibilities of this position.  May perform other duties as assigned or required.

What You'll Bring With You:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent retail experience.5+ years of marketing, advertising or retail management experience.Extensive experience of the Meijer Weekly Ad Process preferred.Previous management experience preferred.Ability to lead through ambiguity and inspire teams to follow in the face of change and innovation.Possesses strong customer service orientation and skills.Possesses strong leadership, team building, coaching and mentoring skills.Ability to work cross-functionally across business areas, with all levels of Meijer team members, leadership and vendor partners.Possesses strong and creative problem-solving, negotiating, facilitation and presentation skills.Possesses exceptional organization, communication and prioritization skills.Possesses excellent written, verbal and oral communication skills.Strong analytical skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines are essential for a fast-paced environment.Ability to communicate technical issues and principles to non-technical people.Adaptive, flexible and responsive to challenges, change and customer business cultures.Possesses an independent and innovative orientation.
