Associate General Counsel (Employment)

As a diversified, national organization, you’ll have access to competitive benefits including a fresh perspective on workplace flexibility. **Position Purpose: Provide legal advice and support on day-to-day employee issues as well as employment-related policy matters, including advising HR and business leaders concerning state and federal legislation, regulations, and other employer requirements applicable to Centene business activities and initiatives.** + Establish relationships of confidence and trust with the business, exhibiting an awareness of and demonstrated sensitivity to a diverse and complex workforce. + Serve as legal advisor to all Human Resources teams, providing day-to-day advice and ongoing compliance recommendations regarding employment-related statutes impacting all aspects of the employment life cycle, including workplace investigations, leaves and accommodations, talent attraction, performance management, restrictive covenants, post-employment restrictions, compensation, benefits, wage/hour issues, and pay practices. + Support business units across the enterprise to identify and assess risks and opportunities related to workforce initiatives and provide strategic and tactical advice accordingly. + Establish and/or direct internal client education and preventative law activities. + Partner with and manage external counsel in support of advice and policy matters. + Draft, review and/or provide advice regarding policies, procedures, contracts, and other documents within area of expertise. Education/Experience: Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited law school and admitted to a state bar. 7+ years of experience in the area(s) of law specific to the role. License/Certification: Licensed to practice law and in good standing with at least one U.S. State Bar. Additional Preferred Qualifications: Experience handling employment law issues for a large, multi-jurisdictional (including CA and NY) employer; knowledge of federal and state/local level employment statutes; familiarity with wage & hour issues. Actual pay will be adjusted based on an individual's skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law. Total compensation may also include additional forms of incentives.
