This position focuses on supporting Doyon, Limited and its subsidiaries in providing legal support, managing legal risks, negotiating contracts, and ensuring regulatory compliance with an emphasis on resource development projects. ***This position is advertised for both Anchorage, AK, and Fairbanks, AK*** Responsibilities ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provide expert legal guidance on contract law, drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex contracts, minerals exploration, oil and gas exploration and production agreements, service contracts, land management issues and leases. Advise on natural resource issues, including minerals exploration, oil and gas exploration, voluntary carbon market agreeements, and land use policies for Doyon, Limited and its subsidiaries. Ensure alignment with environmental regulations, advise on permit conditions and requirements and compliance issues. Communicate and collaborate with internal teams and external partners, including joint venture partners and contractors. Support corporate governance by ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements. Assist the General Counsel in managing legal risks and supporting strategic corporate initiatives. Provide legal counsel on a range of issues, including employment, intellectual property, and day-to-day business operations. Monitor changes in laws and regulations that affect the company’s operations, particularly those related to minerals exporation, oil and gas exploration and production, voluntary carbon market. Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Juris Doctor degree and active membership in the Alaska Bar. Minimum ten (10) years of professional-level legal experience with a strong focus on contract law, with experience in mineral exporation, oil and gas production, voluntary carbon market agreements or in closely related sectors. Demonstrated proficiency in contract law with specific expertise in drafting, negotiating, and managing complex contracts. Proven track record in contract dispute resolution, compliance and contract risk management. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in contracts related to minerals exploration, and oil and gas exploration and production. Experience working on legal matters specific to Alaska's oil and gas development, particularly on the North Slope or similar environments. Expertise in environmental law including regulatory compliance, environmental impact assessments, and permitting. Experience in land management matters including land use, permitting and trespass issues. Working knowledge of voluntary carbon markets and preparing and drafting related agreements. Experience with personnel and employment law issues. Familiarity with utility laws related to oil and gas, including power generation, transportation of resources, and infrastructure development. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Most work is performed in a professional office setting with various people with differing functions, personalities, and abilities.
