Associate General Counsel
Join Vitalant, where every role supports our mission of saving lives. We’re seeking an Associate General Counsel to provide comprehensive legal guidance to Vitalant and its affiliated entities. This role involves navigating contract negotiations, regulatory compliance, litigation oversight, employment law, corporate filings, and internal investigations. By ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory standards, you’ll play a critical part in supporting our lifesaving work.   Key Responsibilities: Contracts and Legal Documents: Draft, negotiate, and review complex commercial agreements.Create and maintain templates for recurring documents and standardize contracts/forms.Implement systems for tracking and archiving legal documents.   Compliance and Advisory: Provide counsel on corporate and regulatory compliance, ensuring alignment with applicable laws such as FDA regulations, privacy/security laws, and fraud/abuse standards.Educate and guide employees on policies and procedures related to compliance and operations.   Litigation Management: Oversee claims and litigation processes, including pleadings, discovery, and defense strategy development.Manage electronic and non-electronic data for litigation purposes and maintain accurate case files.   Research and Risk Assessment: Conduct legal research, evaluate risks, and recommend solutions for operational and strategic decisions.Stay informed on legal and regulatory developments relevant to the organization.   Regulatory and Governmental Matters: Respond to subpoenas and regulatory inquiries, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations.Serve as the point of contact for official notices and legal filings.   Labor and Employment: Address labor and employment matters, including potential and actual claims.Advise on employment-related risks and compliance strategies.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school required.

 

Licenses/Certifications:

Licensed to practice law or eligible for in-house counsel registration in Arizona required.

 

Experience:

6+ years of corporate legal experience in a law firm or in-house environment required.Experience with hospitals, health systems, or pharmaceutical/medical device companies preferred.Strong background in contract law; labor and employment experience is a plus.Familiarity with clinical research and transfusion-related services preferred.

Exceptional organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.Strong customer service orientation and high level of integrity.Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and deliver timely, practical legal advice.Proficiency in evaluating business risks and aligning legal strategies with organizational goals.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Willingness to travel as needed.
