Job Description
This position supports the work of the Channel Islands YMCA, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Associate Executive Director position at the YMCA oversees branch operations and stewards the Y’s cause, promoting and protecting the brand and reputation as a global, inclusive organization within the community. The Associate Executive Director assists with oversight of branch operations, program quality, risk management, staff development, facilities management, financial development, and collaboration with community stakeholders and volunteers.
Qualifications
Education and Certification(s):
• Must be at least 21 years old
• Bachelor's Degree required
• 3+ years’ experience in related management role
• Complete required certifications within 30 days of hire
• Complete all required Branch and Position specific trainings as required within two weeks of hire
Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to obtain a criminal record clearance
• Ability to participate in the DMV Pull Program
• Actively support a safety centric culture by identifying, addressing, and communicating risks and/or
potential risks to supervisor, documenting as required
• Ensure products, services, and overall customer service experience meet expectations
• Reliable and dependable in job related tasks, finishing assigned tasks, and meeting deadlines

Essential Functions
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• Assist in supporting a diverse branch board that actively support the Y’s goals and strategic plans. Completes board and committee work as assigned by or in absence of the Executive Director
• Build bridges within the communities so that all segments of society have access to the Y
• Effectively communicate the community benefit and the Y’s impact for all stakeholders (e.g., staff, volunteers, members, community leaders)
• Develop positive working and collaborative relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities
• Assist with the budgeting process so that resources are devoted to top priorities and strategic objectives. Ensure operating budgets meet or exceed targets
• Develop and direct high quality member engagement strategies and programs, which support branch and association goals and strategies. The Associate Executive Director is directly responsible for outcomes of assigned departments. Establishes plans for the expansion of programs and services, in harmony with overall YMCA objectives and the leadership team
• Assist with financial development activities including direct tasks, grant writing, and special events as assigned by or in absence of the Executive Director
• Recruit, hire, train, develop, and direct employees and volunteers. Review and evaluate staff performance. Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals
• Support risk management strategies and preventative practices. Ensure regulatory compliance
• Support branch strategic planning efforts and develops the annual operating plan
• Oversee the hiring, training, development, and supervision of directly assigned staff. Nurtures a collaborative branch culture and supports Program Directors/Coordinators assigned by or in absence of the Executive Director
• Be directly responsible for overall branch communication coordination between departments and staff
• Take the lead on resolving member issues
• Serve on community and association committees, tasks forces, and boards to foster internal and external relationships
• Be a training resource for the association
• Ensure the safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities, grounds, and equipment
