Description We are looking for a talented Associate Editor to join our team in Washington, District of Columbia. This role involves overseeing the development of engaging content, ensuring editorial excellence, and managing the publication process for both print and digital platforms. The ideal candidate will possess strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, along with a keen eye for detail and creativity.
Responsibilities:
• Research and generate ideas for articles while identifying suitable authors for content creation.
• Solicit and assess manuscript submissions, coordinating peer reviews as necessary.
• Write compelling news stories and feature articles for monthly print and online publications.
• Contribute to recurring sections in publications by crafting engaging and informative content.
• Edit and refine materials to enhance style, clarity, accuracy, and overall organization.
• Proofread content to ensure proper grammar, punctuation, spelling, and adherence to style guidelines.
• Develop headlines, subheadings, and other editorial elements to enhance readability and impact.
• Review page proofs meticulously to address layout issues, formatting inconsistencies, and editorial errors before final release.
• Collaborate in design meetings to conceptualize visuals for articles and covers.
• Support editorial planning efforts to maintain the quality and relevance of publications. Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of experience in writing, editing, or a related field.
• Proficiency in AP Style with a strong grasp of editorial standards.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to proofread for grammar, punctuation, and formatting.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
• Ability to write clear, engaging, and informative content for diverse audiences.
• Experience in collaborating with creative teams to develop visual concepts.
• Familiarity with print and digital publishing workflows.
