Associate Director - Resource Modeling & Forecasting

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.  The anticipated wage for this position is

$111,000 - $162,800

The purpose of the Associate Director – Resource Modeling & Forecasting role is to lead drug development programs and advising leadership on the portfolio performance. Development teams, portfolio managers, and business functions use information from enterprise systems (Prism Live, Polaris, Prism Data Layer, and Prism Reporting) to manage project and portfolio performance, support decision making at both a portfolio and project level, and resource planning. This information is essential for investment analyses, productivity assessments, long and mid-range planning, external benchmarking, and project oversight. The Resource Modeling & Forecasting team is responsible for data standards and processes supporting resource estimation, data standards and processes for specific enterprise systems, and anticipation and adaptation of emerging business needs.

The Resource Modeling & Forecasting (RM&F) Associate Director provides forecast estimations and modeled costs for programs, projects, products, and trials across the Lilly portfolio. This work supports forecasting activities in partnership with collaborators (e.g., Clinical/CMC/Research, finance, and development teams). As assets progress and resource needs change, the RM&F Associate Director will partner with finance and the development teams to ensure timely change control in PRISM Live. Additionally, the RM&F Associate Director serves as a liaison with collaborators to ensure resourcing models are current, variances are understood, and key messages are developed and communicated appropriately to R&D governance and key stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Leadership and Delivery of Resource Modeling & Forecasting Activities

Develop strong working relationships with collaborators (i.e., functional leadership, Design Hub, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Procurement, Clinical, CMC, finance, and development teams) to:
- Establish, document, and update resource models.
- Develop modeled portfolio forecast and resource assessments.
- Maintain accurate asset information in PRISM for assigned projects to facilitate forecasting activities.

Advance data standards associated with PRISM, Power BI and other financial systems.

Maintain linkages to PRISM as portfolio or development models change.

Inform needed model changes and partner with collaborators to ensure approved resource estimations are reflected accurately and timely in PRISM.

Partner with finance on the development of key messages related to forecast outcomes.

Influence development teams to consider cost effective options and provide optionality to teams based on prior experience and expertise.

Manage your business by ensuring that proactive quality control, back-up, training, and effective communications are in place.

Anticipate changing collaborator needs and adapt to change effectively while considering LRL strategic initiatives, technology options, operational implications, and impact on people.

2. Provide Business Process and Oversight

Partner with the Project Management Systems and Project Management Office teams to drive continuous improvement to systems and reporting (Prism and Polaris).

Establish, document, update, and communicate data standards across systems as applicable to RM&F (e.g., Polaris, PRISM, PRISM cost cube, Power BI, etc.).

Proactively establish, implement, and monitor business processes to deliver accurate and timely cost information.

Drive alignment between portfolio and R&D teams goals and cost services provided by understanding and managing linkages within Vault Clinical and other systems as appropriate.

Proactively identify impact of issues/changes on the process, people, and points of integration.

3. Lead Functional/Cross-Functional Projects

Lead special projects as needed.

4. Drive Shared Learning and Process Improvements

Lead the development and implementation of improved processes by partnering with collaborators and appropriately communicating changes.

Be a peer leader within the PPM organization and within the Clinical/CMC/Research functions you support and actively participate in and ensure integrated success of PPM/functional

objectives.

Speak out when problems are identified and engage on finding and implementing solutions.

Create and use change control metrics to monitor and improve the way work is done.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

Education: BS degree or 10 years of experience in industry professional role.

Business Acumen - Minimum 3 years of experience working with drug development costs, specifically Discovery and Clinical Research.

Additional Skills/Preferences:

Ability to influence (i.e. through informal or formal leadership and effective communication) value management for programs, projects, products, and trials.

Ability to build strong relationships and influence across multiple levels in an organization.

Ability to anticipate and recognize issues, diagnose root causes, propose creative alternatives, implement change, measure results, share learnings, and create and implement best

practices.

Ability to learn quickly and adapt to work assignments flexibly.

Ability to understand the vision and strategy and align tactics accordingly.

Strong preference for capacity planning, forecast estimation and/or drug development experience in Discovery and Clinical Research or functional areas supported RM&F.

Knowledge of PRISM, Polaris, or similar.
