**Primary Function of Organizational Unit**
The Division of Institutional Advancement is responsible for acquiring support from corporations, foundations, alumni and friends to support the programs of the University. By using creative strategies to enhance the University’s image, the office promotes the overall mission of North Carolina Central University to its external publics in order to solicit and acquire philanthropic support.
**Primary Purpose of Position**
North Carolina Central University seeks a fundraiser for an entry-level position as a junior Development Officer, operating as the Associate Director of Annual Giving. Under the leadership of the Director of Annual Giving, the Associate Director will be responsible for management and oversight of annual giving programs, which include direct mail, phonathon, class reunion giving, e-solicitations & social media activities for Alumni and Friends. In addition, the selected candidate will work with other staff members to maximize fundraising productivity, provide staff support at special events, develop productive working relationships with key volunteers, and perform other duties as assigned.
**Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**
+ Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
+ A commitment to understanding industry trends and best practices and implementing program changes, when necessary.
+ Strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills
+ Ability to set, track, and analyze progress toward annual goals
+ Proven ability to succeed in a collaborative, team-oriented environment and develop effective working relationships with colleagues, volunteers, and others.
+ Solid working knowledge of MS Office or comparable software suites.
+ Experience with Raiser’s Edge NXT and/or similar fundraising CRM databases.
+ Attend a variety of events throughout the year.
+ Occasional travel and occasional night and weekend work is required
+ Other duties and assignments as required.
**Minimum Education/Experience**
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two – four years of successful fundraising experience in annual giving or direct marketing with demonstrated results.

+ Assist with creating a strategic plan and developing annual goals and objectives for these assigned fund-raising programs.

+ Selected candidate will be responsible for encouraging regular, annual support from loyal donors from $1.00 to $24,999.
+ Candidate will actively participate in the development and alumni relations activities as requested or required including, but not limited to, attendance at university functions and personal solicitation of donors.

+ Manage vendors in support of the solicitation processes for direct mail and phonathon including developing specifications for projects, obtaining and evaluating quotes, and managing relationships to ensure contracts are fulfilled.

+ Maintain appropriate records and prepare follow-up analyses and reports of solicitation efforts for assigned fund-raising programs.
+ Assist with database management and clean-up in areas that effect annual giving solicitation processes.
