Main Purpose and Objectives of Position:

The Clinical Trial Manufacturing organization is responsible for the on-time delivery of drug product for supporting clinical trials (Phase 1 through 4) as well as the associated technical information deliverables. CT Manufacturing is accomplished either externally at approved Third Party Contract Manufacturing sites, both in the US and OUS or internally at Lilly commercial manufacturing facilities. The CT manufacturing organization consists of two components: Technical Group and Operations Group.

The NDP Plant Planner is part of the Product Delivery CT Manufacturing Operations Function and will participate in the development and implementation of global CT manufacturing strategies related to molecules and capacity. Specifically, the NDP Plant Planner is responsible for NDP planning at the plant of our Contract Partner (CP) based on the supply plan generated by the Molecule Planner. The NDP Plant Planner is the key contact for the manufacturing plants with respect to capacity, scheduling, and metrics.  They will partner with the Molecule Planner to ensure the plant schedule meets the demands of the molecule/study plan as well as partners with the Material Coordinator to ensure execution of the plan.  

Key Responsibilities: 

Communicate to and work with Molecule Planner on capacity/scheduling constraints and issues that require an adjustment to the plan

Build and maintain strong relationships with CPs;

Apply knowledge of business planning and control systems to collect, consolidate, analyze, and report supply chain data/metrics.

Capacity planning and scheduling at CPs

Sets up purchasing info data aligned with sourcing decisions

Creating new vendor and customer numbers when needed and link together

Sets up Source List for triangulated sales products (i.e. commercial products)

Establishes manufacturing supplier strategy to ensure long range capacity is met.

Works with the CP to ensure manufacturing run is scheduled; optimizes schedule based on input from Molecule Planner and CP capacity needs.

Manages issues at CP related to capacity and schedule; ensures delivery by need dates

Maintenance of metric and schedule performance data for CPs.

Proactively identifies ways to improve day-to-day activities and practices.  Support efforts to improve productivity, efficiency, product quality and reduction of risk through the use of the Six Sigma methodology. 

Coordinate with capacity planners and project managers to address shifts in CP manufacturing orders which would impact budgets.

GMP Compliance

Must be knowledgeable on how to apply GMPs in a clinical trial environment and review and follow procedures applicable to the CT business.

Educational Requirements: 

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in health care or sciences related field or 5-8 years’ work experience in supply chain

Leadership:

Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact well in a team environment.

Initiative and ability to handle multiple projects in an independent fashion

Ability to use and apply multiple computer applications.

Excellent organization and self-management skills.

Critical thinking and decision making skills

Technical:

Significant expertise in SAP planning

License/Certificate Requirements:  None

Additional Preferences:

Project Management certification

Experienced in manufacturing operations

APICS certification

Work outside of core hours may be required to support the portfolio across the globe

Minimal travel may be required, both domestic and international
