PurposeResponsible for developing and advancing research-driven partnerships with companies, government and not-for profit organizations for the Cockrell School of Engineering.
ResponsibilitiesAct as liaison between UT's research enterprise, our faculty and external partners including companies, foundations and government partners.
Organize and lead effective and deeper engagements between prospect partners and relevant UT faculty and staff. This includes collaborating with department leaders, faculty and communications team to develop messages and content in support of the school's strategic research plan.
Identify rising research opportunities, develop strategic engagement plan, and lead the execution of tasks and workflow to drive effective research-driven engagements.
Proactively manage a portfolio of strategic research partners and ensure consistent value-exchange between all the stakeholders. This includes managing annual program for select strategic corporate partners, including planning, execution, and coordination programming.
Engages companies through a holistic, industry-centered approach and works with key stakeholders within CSE to build partnership roadmaps, integrating brand, research and workforce development outcomes.
Work closely with industry relations teams from other schools and departments to ensure cohesive engagement strategy with external partners. This includes maintaining appropriate documentation, including engagement activities, proposal tracking, contact reports, etc.

Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in a science or engineering field.
Minimum of five years of business development or corporate relations experience.
Proven business intelligence and relationship management skills.
Ability to think strategically, creatively and to work well under pressure.
Excellent project management, presentation and organizational skills.
Strong research and strategic analysis skills.
Demonstrated negotiation and persuasion skills.
Evidence of having a collaborative style, combined with the ability and desire to work in a team-based environment.
Experience in navigating complex environments with evolving priorities and communication plans.
Proficiency in using reporting tools and MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred QualificationsExperience working in a corporation or in higher education in a business development, corporate relations or other closely related role.
Familiarity or experience in the health/biomedicine or civil/environmental industries.
Talent for developing marketing messages and technical narratives.

Working ConditionsWork is performed in a standard office environment.
Work outside of standard business hours may be required on a periodic basis.
Periodic travel is required.
Work ShiftStandard work hours are Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Periodic work outside of normal business hours, to include evenings and weekends, may be required on a periodic basis.
