The Associate Director of Research Administration plays a pivotal role as the primary administrator overseeing sponsored research initiatives within the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering CEE at the A James Clark School of Engineering along with its affiliated units the Maryland Transportation Institute MTI and the Center for Advanced Transportation Technology CATT Reporting directly to the Director of Operations within CEE this position carries the responsibility of managing the entire lifecycle of sponsored projects including pre and post award processes financial oversight and reporting compliance with sponsored research regulations and coordination of effort reporting The Associate Director for Finance and Research Services will also help with forecasting and reconciliation on state and foundation accounts Additionally the Associate Director is tasked with generating data reports and spearheading special projects as needed in this areaAs an integral part of Team Civil the Associate Director oversees the management of a substantial portfolio coordinating an annual research expenditure of over 50 million from diverse funding sources federal state corporate and foundation for post award activities Supervisory duties entail leading a team of four exempt staff members distributed across CEE MTI and CATT who assist in research and financial pre and post award activitiesThe A James Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland serves as the catalyst for high quality research innovation and learning delivering on a promise that all graduates will leave ready to impact the Grand Challenges eg energy environment security and human health of the 21st century The Clark School is dedicated to leading and transforming the engineering discipline and profession to accelerating entrepreneurship and to transforming research and learning activities into new innovations that benefit millions
