With Mission Engineering, we focus on the operational needs of the customer and how our solutions can fit those needs. We model complex threat environments, then develop and integrate advanced simulation and analysis tools to effectively capture system performance in those environments. We generate quantitative results to demonstrate the operational benefit of our products and system solutions, focus further technology investment, and refine architectural approaches and requirements. The successful candidate will lead a distributed team composed of professionals from several disciplines and must have the ability to function well, both alone and with others, and have strong interpersonal skills. This candidate will establish and implement critical functional strategies and operational plans for the area of responsibility, with impact on the achievement of results. They are expected to survey emerging trends in Modeling & Simulation, be able to roadmap our future paths in certain areas, assess the team’s System Engineering capabilities, identify gaps, create steps to bring the team to the next level, contribute significantly to our engineering playbook, and further grow the discipline. The successful candidate will be comfortable with extensively analyzing problems to seek understanding of the underlying issue and root cause. This position may require occasional travel (up to 10%.). This position does require that candidate has a final US DoD security clearance in order to access classified information. **What You Will Do:** + Influence business decisions made by leadership. + Lead cross discipline teams. Engage across disciplines to bring focus to strategic projects and add value and velocity to engineering + Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across departments and business units + Present your ideas to internal and external groups; lead proposal and white paper activities + Understand and promote key analytical projects that assist and influence the business. Ensure alignment with the customer program objectives. + Be a resource for policy knowledge and provide strategic guidance on related issues to leadership + Establish and implement critical functional strategies and operational plans for the area of responsibility, with impact on the achievement of results. + Focus is on medium to-long term strategies (e.g., 2 - 3 years) to achieve business results, which may require substantial development of new processes, standards or operational plans. + Requires ability to communicate with senior executive leadership regarding matters of strategic importance to the organization. + Frequently conducts briefings to senior leaders both within and outside of the function. + Resolve mission/threat questions encountered through study execution + Engage with operators to decompose missions + Lead Non-Advocate Review activities and vector checks + Lead analysis activities **Qualifications You Must Have:** + Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 16 years of relevant experience + Active and transferable U.S. government issued **Top Secret** security clearance is required prior to start date + U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance + Experience leading strategic discussions inclusive of cost, schedule, risk, and technical considerations + Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization + Experience in concepts such as CONOPS, system tradeoffs, threat definitions, and system of system assessments + Experience working within the Mission Engineering and/or Operations Analysis discipline **Qualifications We Prefer:** + Recognized within your organization as a thought leader in area of expertise. + Expert knowledge of market and industry with the ability to identify best practices and how to best utilize within RTX + Background in military operations and tactics + Experience with Nuclear Command and Control (NC3) systems and operations + Experience with Modeling and Simulation tools such as Rapid Campaign Analysis and Demonstration Environment (RCADE), Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration and Modeling (AFSIM) or Next Generation Threat Simulation (NGTS) + Experience with scripting languages such as Python or MATLAB + Exceptional communication skills + Experience with Numerical Optimization Techniques, Analysis of Alternatives, or Design of Experiments + Experience with executing Research and Development / Science and Technology Programs, delivering new technologies to internal and external customers + Familiarity with configuration management (GIT, subversion) + Ability to understand tactics as described by military experts and to represent their employment (verbally, graphically, and in simulations) Do you want to be a part of something bigger? The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
