As Associate Counsel for employment, you’ll work as part of the RKT Holdings LLC Legal team on matters involving employment law for a variety of business partners. Ideally, you’ll have experience advising U.S. and Canadian clients on a wide variety of employment and labor law related issues and have experience managing or handling employment related litigation.
About the Role
Review, draft and prepare legal documents, such as employment agreement, policies, compensation plans, etc. Research and advise on policies, procedures, statutes and regulationsAdvise and counsel internal clients regarding employment related questions arising during the hire process, employment relationship and post-employmentInvestigate claims of harassment and discriminationReview requests for personnel files or other employment related documents received from third partiesRespond to charges from state and federal administrative agenciesAbout You
Minimum Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA accredited law school and admission to Michigan Bar or the ability to practice in-house for a Michigan company3 years of experience practicing as an attorney, with a focus on labor and employment lawExperience exercising independent judgment and discretion while utilizing company policies and practices to determine appropriate actionExperience with monitoring changes in employment law/policy and analyzing its impact on the businessPreferred Qualifications
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with ever changing requirementsSkill at distilling abstract concepts into clear, simple terms coupled with effective legal adviceExceptional organization and team work skillsCanadian employment law knowledge and experienceERISA and employee benefits law knowledge and experienceLitigation experience defending labor and employment claims or prosecuting non-compete or trade secrets actionsExperience advising corporate clients on federal and state employment and labor laws, including FMLA, ADA, Title VII, FLSA, and any other state/federal employment laws in 50 states and CanadaExperience drafting employee equity plans and other compensation documentsWhat You’ll Get
