Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Associate Controller – Direct Support Organization (DSO) and Support Services Accounting/Reporting – Boca Raton, FL.

Summary of Responsibilities include:

Oversee and manage financial operations and reporting for the FAU Finance Corporation (FAUFC) Direct Support Organization (DSO)/Component Unit (CU) and provide central accounting/reporting collaborative support for other FAU DSOs as needed/requested.Prepare and review FAUFC financial statements, bond compliance filings, and audit reports to ensure compliance and accuracy. This includes supporting key stakeholders in providing the information needed to create the FAUFC annual budget.Collaborate with the Controller, DSO leaders/treasurers, and university executives to align financial strategies with organizational goals.Maintain and monitor financial controls and compliance with contracts, policies, and external regulations.Complete all CU compilations for state filings and any/all necessary reporting for the FAUFC.​Oversee accounting and reporting for shared services across university entities, ensuring consistency and accuracy.Lead efforts to streamline inter-entity/inter-company financial transactions and reconciliations.Provide data-driven insights to improve financial processes and reporting efficiency.Manage the accounting aspects of capital projects, renovations, and infrastructure improvements using Workday construction project tracking - this requires working closely alongside Design and Construction services and other FAU key divisions involved in project accounting processes.Monitor project budgets, track expenses, and analyze funding allocations across major construction projects in Workday and provide all necessary reporting to key stakeholders.Ensure compliance with funding guidelines, contracts, and reporting requirements in direct collaboration with related university constituents.Provide regular updates on construction project financials to key stakeholders and others in the university who direct construction-related activities.Work with other areas and representatives of Financial Affairs to collaboratively support the development and implementation of strategies for improving financial reporting and forecasting, as well as any other major initiatives related to the FAUFC (or any other FAU DSOs as applicable).Prepare and present financial reports and analyses to senior leadership, supporting strategic decision-making.Promote and contribute to the development of improved reporting and key performance metrics.Supervise a team of accounting professionals, providing coaching, training, and development.Foster a collaborative team environment focused on continuous improvement and professional growth.Ensure staff adherence to accounting standards, policies, and internal control requirements.Ensure adherence to university, state, and federal regulations governing FAUFC, shared services accounting/reporting, and construction projects.Be a primary lead on internal and external audits related to FAUFC, responding to any findings with corrective actions - under the direction of the Controller.Maintain effective risk management practices to protect the university’s financial interests.Complete other ad hoc projects as assigned by the Controller.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience required.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Experience in financial reporting, construction/project accounting, and nonprofit or higher education settings.

Strong understanding of financial controls, audits, and regulatory compliance.

Experience working with Direct Support Organizations or nonprofit entities.

Familiarity with higher education financial processes and shared services models.

Proficiency with financial ERP systems (Workday preferred) and reporting tools.

Strategic thinking and the ability to translate financial data into actionable recommendations.

Strong leadership and team management skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for cross-functional collaboration.

High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and compliance.

Problem-solving and analytical capabilities for handling complex financial matters.

Salary:

$105,000 - $115,000 per year.
