Associate Administrator
Title: Associate Administrator Location: Upper East Side Org Unit: Pediatrics Work Days: Weekly Hours: 35.00 Exemption Status: Exempt Salary Range: $170,800.00 - $200,300.00 *As required under NYC Human Rights Law Int 1208-2018 - Salary range for this role when Hired for NYC Offices **Position Summary** Plans, directs and controls the financial affairs of the department including budgeting, accounting, and payroll. Ensures effective decision making for the department's financial resources. Responsible for the efficient operation of the department with respect to the administrative and financial functions that support patient care, academic and research activities. **Job Responsibilities** + Directs and implements Department's budget. Prepares, updates and formulates the schedules, rules and guidelines for the budget package to insure compliance with College and Hospital goals and objectives. + Reconciles College and Hospital allocations as well as resolves funding issues. Reviews and analyzes division budget submissions for reasonableness and complete disclosure. + Plans, directs and controls the Department’s financial affairs including budgeting, accounting, payroll, and collections. Ensures accurate accounting of expenditures, planning and effective decision making for the department's financial resources + Reviews and analyzes accounting and management reports. Identifies and explains unfavorable variances. Provides options and makes recommendations. Implements and follows up on corrective action plans + Develops business plans & projects financial requirements to achieve Department's objectives and goals. Integrates new programs into the budgetary process. Organizes & links relevant systems to measure progress of the plan. Provides financial feedback. + Develops and executes long-range strategic and annual operating plans. Ensures that the annual operating plan is executed and is consistent with strategic plan + Monitors financial resources through financial planning, budgeting and accounting functions. Delivers financial reports to the Chair, CAOs and Chiefs and other stakeholders. Oversees accounting for clinical activities. + Analyzes existing programs, including revenue, expense, faculty effort, hospital support. Optimizes financial resources to help department achieve goals. + Oversees Division Administrators and finance staff. Orients new Divisional Administrators on departmental/institutional policy, procedures and IT training. Develops and maintains department policy and procedure manual annual. + Oversees space management/equipment inventory for the Department. **Education** + Bachelor's Degree **Experience** A minimum of 7-10 years’ experience in a complex healthcare environment and demonstrated success in the management of complex programs, activities or units. Extensive administrative and supervisory experience is essential. Directly related financial and budget development experience in a complex environment. **Knowledge, Skills and Abilities** + Proven track record as a strategic leader with specific experience implementing value-added business initiatives. + Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a group of physicians and professionals. Knowledge of and experience working with professionals in hospital/health system management is highly valued. + Experience and demonstrated effectiveness in communications/presentations to a wide variety of audiences is expected. Board level presentation experience highly preferred. + Experience using Electronic Medical Records Systems, Enterprise Resource Systems, and Medical Group Practice Billing/Financial Management Systems is highly desirable. + Experience as a leader managing in a complex environment with significant enterprise scale in medical research, clinical care and medical education is strongly preferred. + Demonstrated effectiveness in planning and supporting clinical program development, professional education and medical research in an academic environment. + Demonstrated success in supporting medical research with the ability to effectively identify opportunities for improvement in support functions. + Exceptional analytic and communication skills with the ability to effectively and concisely communicate complex findings to a variety of key groups and individuals. + A proven ability to effectively and efficiently manage multiple high priority projects at the same time and delegate appropriately. **Licenses and Certifications** **Working Conditions/Physical Demands** Weill Cornell Medicine is a comprehensive academic medical center that is committed to excellence in patient care, scientific discovery, and the education of future physicians and scientists in New York City and around the world.
