Two candidates will be selected for the Associate Academic Advisor positions from this posting.

Purpose

Advise students individually and in groups about the development of educational plan options and the resources available, as well take on programs within the advising office and collaborate with the department and college on iniatives. To advance our core mission of fostering wellness, belonging, and success for all students.

Responsibilities

Facilitate Integrated 5-year BS_MS Program application process annually. Includes coordinating and presenting info sessions, organizing and tracking application materials, communicating with the applicants, updating website to reflect accurate information and admits and the departmental review committee. OR Hire, train and supervise team of front desk student workers. Manage budget of student employee wages to ensure coverage.Participate in freshmen and transfer orientations as well as facilitate multiple C S Pod learning communities.Provide academic advising for Computer Science Majors.Attend meetings, professional development, participate in trainings and serve on committees as assigned.Other duties as assigned, including supporting special projects and staffing events within CNS.Other duties as assigned, including supporting special projects and staffing events within CNS.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of experience with student populations (higher education preferred). Demonstrated ability to effectively provide academic and non-academic advising to students. Ability to teach, present, and/or train a wide range of students. Proven ability to effectively and positively collaborate with others. Superb written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills. Must be student-centered and focused on student success. Ability to anticipate next steps and initiate action without being asked. Proven ability to act with discretion and hold necessary information confidential. Limited evening and weekend hours may be required. Must be able to work in-person on The University of Texas at Austin campus.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree and at least 2 years of experience with student populations (higher education preferred).

Salary Range

$45,000 + depending on qualifications
