Job Description

We are seeking a talented and experienced Associate, Tunnel Design to join our team in Singapore. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and managing complex tunnel and underground structure projects, contributing your expertise to innovative infrastructure solutions.

Develop and manage work plans and design activities for medium to high complexity tunnel projectsPlan and implement geotechnical investigation programs for tunnel and underground projectsPerform advanced geotechnical analyses and designs based on investigation resultsUtilize commercial numerical modeling tools, including Finite and Distinct Elements software, for tunnel and underground structure designCreate and verify Excel sheets for structural and geotechnical calculationsProvide expert knowledge on soil and rock mechanics and ground-structure interactions to multidisciplinary teamsSupport tunnel proposals with technical inputs, methodologies, and techniquesDesign tunnels using both TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) and SEM (Sequential Excavation Methods), with a focus on TBM tunnel lining designPrepare contract documents, technical specifications, design reports, and drawingsSupervise and mentor less experienced engineers and interns in numerical modelingCollaborate with other disciplines, professionals, and clients to ensure project success

QualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Structural EngineeringMinimum of 7 years of experience in tunnels and trenchless structuresProven expertise in tunneling and underground engineeringStrong knowledge of geotechnical analysis and design, particularly for tunnel projectsProficiency in commercial numerical modeling tools, including Finite and Distinct Elements softwareAdvanced skills in Excel for structural and geotechnical verificationsExperience with TBM and SEM tunnel design, especially TBM tunnel lining designIn-depth understanding of soil and rock mechanics, and ground-structure interactionsKnowledge of Transportation and Water Conveyance projects, focusing on underground componentsExperience with small (OD 6m~8m) and/or large diameter (OD >10m) TBM tunneling methods preferredFamiliarity with geotechnical, hydrogeology, geological engineering, and rock mechanics principlesStrong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skillsExcellent oral and written communication abilitiesDemonstrated interpersonal and teamwork skillsAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionProject management experience and skillsSafety awareness and commitment to safe practices in underground construction
