Job Description:

The Aerojet Rocketdyne Segment of L3Harris Technologies, responsible for the design, manufacture and operation of a number of critical US space and defense products, is seeking an Associate Systems Engineer at our Stennis Space Center, Mississippi location.

The Associate Systems Engineer will work with technicians and Quality Assurance personnel, as well as other engineering staff, supervision, and management, supporting assembly, test, and delivery of large rocket engines and components, with primary responsibility for rocket engine test preparation, test, and post-test processing. You'll have an opportunity to develop specialized knowledge of engine and component function & assembly, pre- and post-test processing and functional testing and inspections. Work with staff in related disciplines, including contractors, and customers, to ensure successful assembly, testing, and delivery of Aerojet Rocketdyne products. Daily communication of activities and status with Aerojet Rocketdyne personnel at the Design Centers will be required.

Essential Functions:

60% - Issuing detailed work instructions, based on specific pre-determined requirements and knowledge of systems and system components, as well as to support and document checkout and test activities.10% - Coordination of day-to-day program needs ranging from design changes to hardware and software changes, attending meetings to assure that planned direction is in the best interest of the program and the customer.10% - Coordination and disposition of non-conformance & Material Review documents for nonconforming engine and facility-based instrumentation and controls components and systems. Manage and track anomalies to ensure proper disposition or closure prior to test or delivery.10% - Troubleshoot anomalies and coordinate troubleshooting activities with personnel representing other internal and external customer organizations.5% - Lead or participate on corrective action teams and specifically driving continuous improvement throughout all site processes5% - Monitoring engine operational parameters during rocket engine chill and hotfire test.Work Environment and Physical Requirements:Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.

Qualifications:

Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering preferred) or a related discipline, with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience.  US Citizenship required. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement. Additionally, candidate must be able to successfully complete the NASA Personnel Reliability Program (PRP) screening.

Preferred Additional Skills:

Ability to troubleshoot anomalies.Strong written and verbal communication skills; strength in teaming and collaboration in a diverse work environment, self-starter.
