Role:

Assist in the execution of Capital Markets Operational Risk and Resilience strategy, risk and control, governance, and regulatory initiatives through the following responsibilities:

Planning and executing short and long-term initiatives and ad hoc deliverables within given timelines

Methodically solving problems across a continuum that ranges from simple day-to-day issues to highly complex business, technical or regulatory issues.

Build an understanding of end-to-end processes in support of CM operational excellence and resilience. This includes ensuring key processes and controls are identified, inventoried, mapped, and assessed for operational risk and resilience end-to-end across Capital Markets.

Documenting new or existing processes and improving existing processes.

Support development and execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal stakeholders

Assists with the maintenance, monitoring, measurement & reporting on the status of the operational risk governance program and key risk indicators to internal & external stakeholders

Writing business communications that clearly and appropriately convey the target message.

Building positive relationships within GM, I&CB and across Corporate Support Areas in order to garner support, advice and partnership that enables execution of the role.

Work cross-functionally to understand business processes and how to better optimize workflows for reporting and analytics

Coordinate, attend, facilitate meetings for process walk-throughs

Prepare project surveys for review: identify pain points, current time spend, estimated time save with future processes

Review and organize documentation (reporting processes)

Map out process workflows

Extract, load, and transform data for reporting and ad-hoc analyses under tight timelines

Learn and utilize the various available efficiency tools available to streamline and automate processes where applicable and create capacity

Assist in maintaining and enhancing a holistic view of CM's 1st Line Non-Financial Risk profile to enable the business to see a targeted view of their key non-financial risks

Bring together the Owners of the risk areas to address risks in a timely and effective manner

Protect the firm from non-financial risks with robust risk governance including appropriate escalation processes

Continue to grow and enhance the business’ inventory of 1st Line KRIs (key risk indicators) by working with stakeholders in various risk areas to identify and fill reporting metric gaps

Facilitate stakeholder reviews of Enterprise policies and procedures, ensuring the appropriate individuals have been included. Build and grow 1st Line governing documentation inventory in alignment with Enterprise guidance to enhance 1st Line accountability.

Creation of materials for various risk committees and executive audiences

Coordinate and monitor the review and sign-off of attestations and reporting Ongoing self-study about GM, Capital Markets, emerging regulatory and industry issues, BMO business priorities, and best practices.

** Note: this role is within the Capital Markets business, in the Office of the Chief Operating Officer.  The business operates at a quick pace with very high quality and expectations; as such the role requires the same pace coupled with high quality execution of deliverables.

The role will have high exposure within the business and can lead to attractive future opportunities for a candidate who performs well in this role.

Undergraduate degree

2-6 years work experience

1-2 years quantitative analytic experience

Understanding of intent and purpose of team

Intermediate to advanced Office Suite proficiency

Intermediate knowledge of Capital Markets LOBs, products and infrastructure requirements (e.g., people, systems, relationships x-product/LOB)

Intermediate knowledge of the financial services industry

BMO organization, including CSAs that interact with Capital Markets

Knowledge of the various risks and controls associated with Capital Markets’ business activities

Salary:

$54,500.00 - $101,500.00

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
