The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

Under supervision of Sr. Counsel, the Associate Counsel of Business & Legal Affairs is an attorney position responsible in working with the SVP – Business & Legal Affairs of Telemundo Network and other attorneys in the department.

Responsibilities:

• Draft, review, negotiate, and interpret an extensive range of agreements, including, but not limited to, vendor, development, acquisition, licensing agreements, production, and talent agreements.

• Under supervision of Sr. Counsel, help manage business and legal affairs issues for the company’s digital initiatives, including privacy matters, intellectual property rights, user agreements, monetization initiatives, and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws; and effectively advise digital clients and stakeholders of all such matters. 

• Under supervision of Sr. Counsel, help manager production issues for Unscripted (reality) Entertainment programs, including but not limited to drafting series rules, conducting necessary presentations and trainings, and managing fairness concerns.

• Create deal summaries, maintain and administer day-to-day contractual and operational matters including preparation letters and memoranda to internal and external clients and presentations to senior-level management, etc.

• Help support and oversee all legal aspects of production related to Specials, including drafting and negotiating PSAs, talent agreements, appearance releases, area releases, location agreements, oversee photo/materials clearances, vendor agreements, etc.

• Provide general advice and support to the business.

• Updating form contracts to reflect current practices and policies.

• Clear intellectual property rights

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications"

JD degree and US bar membership.2+ years’ experience as a lawyer in a law firm specializing in entertainment law or a business/legal affairs position at a television network or media company strongly preferred.Superior communication, interpersonal, drafting, analytical, and organizational skills.Excellent written and verbal skills. Fully bilingual and able to conduct business and analyze legal matters in Spanish and English.Proficient in Outlook including Calendar, Contacts.Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

Willingness to travel with short notice and on weekendsWillingness to work flexible hours including late and/or last-minute scheduling changes in a 24/7 production work environmentMust be willing to work in the greater Miami, Florida areaMust be 18 years or olderMust have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United StatesMust be covered by Solutions, NBCU’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Program
