Assistant Vice President, Business Development, Ratings Workflow

Summary

Morningstar DBRS is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Ratings Workflow within the Global Business Development team to be responsible for acting as the lead intermediary between the Business Development team and Analytical teams on ratings workflows.  A key measure of success for this role will be the timeliness of getting key term sheet information on new transactions and engagements forwarded to the correct Analytical team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of key industry terminology, methodology architectures, and key data requirements for the application of various structured finance and fundamental rating methodologies. Further, the successful candidate should be familiar with the analytical process and overall credit rating approval process and be capable of quickly developing a solid understanding of all Morningstar DBRS published methodologies and criteria. This position is based in our New York office and hybrid attendance is required.

Responsibilities:

The core responsibilities of the role are routing new transactions and engagements to analysts, monitoring the progress of analytical team assessments, and integrating data across multiple systems to drive reporting:

Routing new transactions and engagements to analysts

Able to offer timely initial assessments of new transactions, and reliably identify the appropriate analytical team that will undertake a first review of the new transactionWhere an analytical team has identified that a new or expanded methodology may be required to rate a new transaction, and thus expands an assessment to involve members of the New Assets team, able to effectively monitor the progress of the project as needed across multiple analytical teams delivering on deeper assessments

Monitoring the progress of analytical team assessments on new transactions

Adept at managing multiple projects simultaneously, keeping track of how a variety of ongoing assessments are progressing within various analytical teams,Effective at communicating project updates to other Business Development team members responsible for managing expectations with prospective clients on the timing for when it will be determined if a potential rating on a new transaction can move forward

Integrating data across multiple systems to drive reporting

Capable of extracting reporting from both custom information technology systems and databases, as well as CRM software like Salesforce as needed to map the end-to-end workflows involved in the credit ratings processExperienced in working with both IT and analytical teams when considering process workflow improvements, and implementing process changes

Qualifications:

Knowledge of the market dynamics within the fixed income markets globally, including rating agencies, credit research, and fixed income salesDeep understanding of the end-to-end workflows applied in efforts to determine a credit rating, and the application of methodologies and criteria as published by rating agencies like Morningstar DBRS, Fitch, Moody’s, and S&P5+ years of experience in Structured FinanceBachelors degree

Desire to expand your capabilities and expertise across the structured finance assets classes of ABS, RMBS, CMBS, and Structured Credit, working with the analytical teams who specialize in these areasProven ability to build relationships across multiple teams and departments operating in various locationsKnack for mapping the processes and data flows that deliver insights to people, and proposing options for improving operations in ways that are capable of delivering higher quality results faster

Base Salary Compensation Range:

$77,000 - $131,000

Bonus Target:

25%
