Assistant Supervisory Fitness and Sports Specialist
Summary About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Fitness Center & Sports at Luke AFB, AZ. This position is a Regular Full Time (35-40) Hrs. with benefits. Must be able to lift and carry items up to 50 lbs. Have a valid CPR and basic first aid certifications (or equivalent). Pass the Fitness Fundamentals class. Be available to work uncommon work schedule, including weekends and holidays. Responsibilities Assist in administering all operational phases of a comprehensive year round base fitness and sports program, contracts, and facilities. Programs include group exercise classes, incentive, self-directed, special events, intramural and varsity sports, instructional programs, core fitness activities and enhanced programs for military members not meeting fitness and weight standards. Develops and implements enhanced programs to accommodate wide range of interests for traditional as well as trendy and specialized activities. Establishes annual fitness plan for all training, fitness classes, incentive programs, and special events. Manages all core activity offerings and schedules and periodically reviews programs to ensure activities are meeting AFI requirements and customer needs. Provides oversight on the formulation and approval of the annual APF and NAF budgets, to include quarterly budget revisions and expenditures required to conduct all Fitness programs and resale operations. Tracks all APF and NAF monthly expenditures. Conducts meetings and chairs Fitness & Sports Advisory Council. Coordinates with organizations to ensure sports advisory members are assigned and adherence to by-laws and philosophy of intramural sports are understood. Coordinates the use of facilities to accommodate programs. Ensures inspections are conducted on equipment, fields, and facilities with discrepancies documented and submitted for attention. Consults with ground safety office and civil engineers to report and correct any safety hazards. Coordinates, and in absence of the director, performs all supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Structures assignments to create effective and economical positions. Identifies and implements training requirements according to needs and requirements as a result of new equipment or materials. Coordinates plans and policy to ensure facilities and programs are in compliance with established safety, fire, and environmental directives. Completes assessment and surveys to determine customer needs. Reviews all electronic and paper comment cards. Coordinates and approves on all Marketing and Publicity requests for planning and developing promotional, advertising, commercial sponsorships, and publicity strategies. Briefs new customers and base leadership on program. Coordinates joint programs. Coordinates on all worker order for facility maintenance, Alternate fire, safety, ESOCAMP, HAZMAT, work orders, and property custodian. Performs all other duties as assigned. Qualifying Experience: Minimum of 1 year of specialized experience which provided knowledge of standardized body of rules, principals, procedures and operation related to recreation functions in order to perform the required activities in a fitness and sports environment. Requires supervisory experience and experience in preparing budgets, managing financial and physical resources, skill in training and motivating fitness and sports activities. A bachelor's degree course of study in fitness or sports recreational related field is highly desirable and may substitute for experience. Use of uniform is required. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
