Position Summary:


We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Assistant Research Technician.

The successful candidate will perform transgenic mouse sperm and embryos cryopreservation and maintain in long-term storage tanks. Manage a mouse colony include tails sample preparation. Perform genomic DNA extraction from mouse tail samples. In additional, assistant reagents frozen sperm and embryos shipping and related duties and will be responsible for performing a variety of complex laboratory tasks of a routine nature as well as methods development and standardized procedures to provide high quality Transgenics resource support for the research community.

Job Responsibilities:

Provide support with assisted reproductive technology services including:

In vitro fertilization of mouse eggs with transgenic mouse frozen sperm.


Cryopreservation of transgenic mouse sperm and embryos

Surgical transfer of embryos to surrogate female mice

Occasional weekend work for superovulation treatment

Perform methods including DNA purification, PCR reactions, and prep for genotype

Animal colony and room Management

Manage the mouse transgenic production colonies

Tissue collection and tagging for identification of mice

Weaning and distribution of mice to on-campus and off-campus clients

Superovulation for production of embryos for genetic manipulation

Provide customer service including communicating with clients about project

Responsible for the coordinate import and export frozen samples

Maintains of database of transgenic mice sperm and embryos cryopreservation

Monitor daily animal health and welfare while performing daily animal health observations.

Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all instruments and laboratory facilities, core laboratory procedures and practices, including quality control and compliance.

Advises appropriate personnel of situations/problems requiring intervention or follow-up attention.

Minimum Qualifications:


To qualify you must have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Life Sciences or related field. This is an entry-level position.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $43,800 - 45,000 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
