Assistant Project Manager
Job Title: Assistant Project ManagerJob Description The Assistant Project Manager (PM) is an essential team member responsible for coordinating between the client, external project team, public utility team, drafting team, and other project stakeholders. The PM directs multiple underground dry utility projects and collaborates with business partners to plan, facilitate, and complete projects. The successful candidate will represent the company in communications with clients and various utility business partners. Responsibilities + Coordinate with clients, external project teams, public utility teams, drafting teams, and other stakeholders. + Direct multiple underground dry utility projects. + Work closely with business partners to plan, facilitate, and complete projects. + Represent the company in communications directly with clients and utility business partners. + Manage project scheduling, cost controls, tracking, and reporting methodologies. + Ensure compliance with public utility standards and development codes for multiple jurisdictions. + Maintain strong design skills with joint trench-related construction projects. + Establish and monitor specific customer satisfaction standards. + Multi-task and keep track of projects totaling $750k+ and details; manage time effectively. + Improve procedures and documentation to create a continuous “best practices” environment. + Mentor junior employees. Essential Skills + Minimum of three years of professional experience managing multiple, simultaneous joint trench-related utility design projects. + High-level understanding of public utility standards, public and private development codes, and ordinances for multiple jurisdictions. + Experience in project scheduling, cost controls, tracking, and reporting methodologies. + Strong design skills with joint trench-related construction projects. + Direct client management experience. + Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively. + Valid California Driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation. + Familiarity with AutoCAD. + Ability to work well as a team and individually. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Ability to improve procedures and documentation to create a continuous “best practices” environment. + Willingness to mentor junior employees. Work Environment The work environment consists of a small office with 21-22 employees, where the project team includes 3-4 in-office members. The role involves 90% office work and 10% field work. The work schedule is from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with some flexibility to start an hour earlier or later. The noise level is moderate to high, with shared workspaces and frequent interaction with staff. The environment is fast-paced and frequently changing, with normal interruptions. The role involves moderate exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. The job operates in a professional office environment, using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00 Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
