Job Description Summary

Our development and construction professionals develop projects with a holistic, master-planned approach, contributing to the growth of communities where we live and work. Are you ready and able to lead a high-quality team of professionals through entitlement, design and construction of large-scale projects? If you can communicate effectively throughout the project management process, while taking pride in building and infrastructure projects, we want to know more about you!

As a Construction Project Superintendent, you'll be responsible for construction/operations activities on an individual, large project, potentially leading all aspects of multiple smaller projects at once. We'll count on you to oversee and evaluate subcontractors, coordinate workers, materials and equipment to ensure work is proceeding on schedule and within budget. You'll also have on-site responsibility for construction activities.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Owns responsibility for construction/operations activities on assigned projects including budgets, quality control and schedules.

Ensures adherence to the project safety policy and procedures.

Manages and coordinates the day-to-day logistics and activities of contractors and subcontractors.

Negotiates on behalf of Nationwide Realty Investors (NRI) with contractors related to change orders, scope of work and other issues through the course of the project.

May perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Vice President/Associate Vice President/Director, NRI; leads all aspects of a team of contractors/subcontractors.

Typical Skills and Experience:

Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.

License/Certification/Designation: None required.

Experience: Five or more years of related professional experience in project coordination or management role, preferably in construction related fields.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must have strong understanding of project management concepts. Understanding of construction concepts and terminology. Excellent organizational skills and high level of attention to detail. Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively. Ability to use logic and methods to solve problems with effective solutions. Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to express self clearly and organize ideas well. Understanding of the importance of partnership and building rapport. Ability to function independently or in a team environment with supervision and guidance.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and Human Resources Business Partner.

Working Conditions: Construction field office environment. Non-standard hours if necessary.
