Yes County New York Street Address 450 Seventh Avenue City New York State NY Zip Code 10123 Duties Description The NYS Office of Faith & Nonprofit Development Services supports nonprofit organizations and serves communities across the state: assisting faith-based and nonprofit organizations in applying for grants from state agencies; providing informational resources for faith-based and nonprofit organizations to build their capacity to provide effective services, improve performance and increase sustainability; and creating a network of organizations to better coordinate efforts, build coalitions and develop effective partnerships.Reporting to the Director, the Assistant Director is responsible for overall management of the Office and its programs and contributing to the success of the Office by actively engaging faith and nonprofit leaders, building relationship with communities across the State, and supporting the Director in developing and executing the mission of the Office.Duties may include, but are not limited to:• Contribute to overall leadership and management of the Office and serve in the Director’s stead as requested; Manage professional and support staff within the Office, including assignment, tracking and evaluation of work, supervision of time and attendance activities, and conducting performance planning and evaluation for staff.• Serve as liaison between the Office, state agencies, and external stakeholders to promote NYS development services and grant programs to faith-based and nonprofit organizations. • In conjunction with the Director, develop strategies to effectively communicate the NYS Interfaith Council’s message to state agencies and external stakeholders; Lead speaking engagements and public appearances to promote and support program objectives.• Build relationships and survey faith-based and nonprofit organizations to identify needs and barriers in community development and use findings to develop opportunities to coordinate programming efforts to better serve these constituents.• Develop and present reports for DOS leadership, the Governor’s Office, and other stakeholders as needed. • Manage complex projects as assigned by the Director.• Manage day-to-day administrative functions within the Office.• Other duties as assigned.Travel is expected between the NYC and Albany offices, as well as other areas of NYS, as needed. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and at least 6 years of progressively responsible professional experience in the formulation, administration, and/or evaluation of programs and policies related to faith-based and nonprofit communities. Candidates must demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to faith-based and nonprofit issues and nuances. At least 1 year of the required experience must have been in a managerial capacity; or 3 years in a supervisory role. *Substitutions: Four years of specialized experience or associate’s degree and two years of specialized experience may substitute for bachelor’s degree; J.D. or master’s degree may substitute for one year of specialized experience; Ph.D. may substitute for two years of specialized experience.If a degree and/or credit hours are listed, please forward your transcripts with your resume, cover letter, and Part 1 Application.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:• Experience with state or local governmental programs and services.• Experience with administration and management of grant programs.• Experience with public engagement, public speaking, and stakeholder relationship management.• Experience with management of multiple professional staff and second level supervision.• Experience with development and refinement of program missions, goals and objectives.It is essential that candidates clearly and concisely indicate exactly how they meet the above minimum qualifications in their resume.
