Additional information on the PRODiG+ Fellowship can be found at https://www.suny.edu/prodig-plus/ The Department of Human Ecology at the State University of New York at Oneonta invites applications for a tenure track position as an Assistant Professor of Social Work beginning Fall 2025. Expectations include, but are not limited to, teaching, research, student advisement, college service, and continuing professional development. The Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) program, housed in the Department of Human Ecology, is in the process of creating an MSW program. The HDFS program uses life span and ecological perspectives to study human development, family dynamics, and relationships. Our applied program emphasizes building professional helping skills related to interviewing, assessing, case management, family life education, public policy, and intervention and prevention programming in human service agencies. We are also in the process of developing CASAC (Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor) microcredentials. We have recently developed community partnering with local human service agencies around Direct Support Professionals (DSP) microcredentials. The HDFS program enrolls approximately 100 students and employs five full-time faculty. Including HDFS, the Department of Human Ecology has a total of 372 students and 17 full-time faculty. Other majors in the department include Fashion and Textiles, Food Service and Restaurant Administration, and Nutrition and Dietetics. Human Development and Family Studies is an approved program for the Certified Family Life Educator credential through the National Council on Family Relations. Additional information on the PRODiG+ Fellowship Benefits can be found at https://www.suny.edu/prodig-plus/ Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: + Must be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship. + Doctor of Social Work; PhD in Social Work; or MSW, 2 years of social work practice, and a PhD in a related field. + Demonstrated personal, academic, and/or work experience engaging with diversity, equity, and inclusion and/or a commitment to facilitating and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in the campus community. Such experience may include, but is not limited to, and academic/scholarly track record focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion; work, volunteer/unpaid/community service; or related experience/expertise in serving underserved or vulnerable areas and/ or populations in application materials. + Ability to teach a variety of applied courses in Human Development and Family Studies, and social work. Additional: + Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate Human Development and Family Studies courses OR more than two years of college teaching. + Applied experience in human service agencies, clinical settings, or elder care. + Licensure eligible for clinical work + Evidence of scholarship + Strong written communication and presentation skills + Experience in teaching, mentoring, research, or service with diverse and/or multicultural populations. Preferred: + Current SUNY students, alumni, and/or Fellows. + From a low-income background (e.g., Pell-eligible as undergraduates), were first- generation college students (students whose parents have not earned a bachelor's degree), + have overcome adversity, are AmeriCorps alumni, or are veterans.
