Job Description
The Music program at Texas A&M University – Central Texas invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor and specializing in music technology, music composition, or world music. We seek an artist and educator who is committed to ongoing music scholarship or creative work. The program is in collaboration with Temple College and is based in Temple Texas. The position begins in Fall 2025.
Applicants must be authorized to work for any US employer. The department is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time.
Responsibilities:
+ Teach undergraduate courses in music and serve as an advisor and mentor to undergraduate students.
+ Twelve credit hours per semester is a full-time load at our institution.
+ Remain current in the discipline and have an active agenda as a scholar/artist.
+ Work collaboratively with faculty and leadership at Temple College, where the program is based. Assist colleagues in recruiting students to the music program.
+ Serve on college and university committees.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
+ Applicants must have a PhD or DMA and specialize in music technology, music composition, or world music.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience with audio production and electronic music technologies and be able to teach audio engineering.
+ Familiarity with Pro Tools or similar music technology composition applications is helpful.
+ A background in Music Anthropology with mastery of research and writing methods are preferred.
+ Professional experience in media scoring, music technology, and music composition preferred.
+ Contemporary music composition in jazz, rock, music theater, and/or soundtrack scoring preferred.
+ Knowledge of the music industry who can manage student internships in the industry.
+ The ideal candidate will be able to teach applied lessons on one or more instruments/voice.
Salary: $60,000 for the fall and spring terms.
Hours: Variable faculty hours depending on assigned courses.
Work Location: The selected candidate will be required to work on campus dependent on course assignment.
