Assistant Professor in Neurosurgery - Functional and Peripheral Nerve Surgery
The Houston Methodist Department of Neurosurgery seeks a full-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor in Neurosurgery with a subspecialty focus in functional and peripheral nerve surgery. The candidate must also hold a PhD in Neuroscience with expertise in neural interfaces and neurorestoration. The ideal candidate will have dual expertise in functional and peripheral neurosurgery and neuroengineering, with a proven track record in advanced biological therapy and neural interface development. Experience in neural interface fabrication, integration with biological tissues, development and implantation in preclinical and clinical models, and leadership in GMP-compliant medical device development is required. The candidate should have a demonstrated history of securing substantial grant funding, serving as a peer reviewer for major scientific journals, and holding roles in national or international scientific societies. This position is central to the Houston Methodist Center for Neural Systems Restoration, where the faculty member will lead research in biohybrid neural interfaces, neuroprosthetics, and neuromodulation strategies in collaboration with Rice University. Candidates must have completed advanced post-graduate fellowships in functional and peripheral nerve neurosurgery and demonstrate significant research experience in neuroengineering as a principal investigator.
