Assistant Professor, Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program
The Department of Counseling and Behavioral Health in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh is accepting applications for a 12-month, appointment stream Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will assume responsibility for teaching Clinical Mental Health related course content, providing services at the Wellness Pavilion, and participating in department, school, and university governance and service, along with other roles as determined by the Department Chair.
Position Duties
· Provide services at the Wellness Pavilion, including building and overseeing administrative procedures for delivery of counseling services by CBH personnel; supervise graduate student trainees supporting overall operations.
· Teach the counseling skills course for undergraduate students 1-2 times per academic year, lead 1-2 clinical practicum/internship supervision groups per year, and/or other teaching duties as assigned by the Department Chair.
· Serve as the Department Community Engagement Specialist. Oversee service-learning projects for students; organize and convene departmental community advisory board; plan community networking and community engagement events with site supervisors, alumni, and other members of the local mental health counseling community.
· Conduct general faculty duties such as attending Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Counseling and Behavioral Health meetings, SHRS faculty meetings, serving on capstone examination committees, and participating in application review and interviews, as well as other duties as assigned.
· Serve as Director of Dialogue and Mediation.
o Key responsibilities of this administrative role include: Developing and implementing programs to foster understanding and communication among members of the School; mediating conflicts related to differences, incidents, or misunderstandings; leading related training for faculty, staff, and students; establishing wellness initiatives; build partnerships across departments to promote connectedness; co-manage incident response protocols and restorative responses; assess school climate and develop strategic initiatives and improvement projects as needed.
o Core functions of this administrative role include: Leading prevention and intervention strategies for community well-being; providing guidance and support for faculty-student relations; establishing protocols for addressing conflicts and concerns; designing and implementing programming that promotes interpersonal dialogue; and collaborate with existing support services and resources.

Requisite Qualifications
Required:
• Earned Doctoral degree.
• Evidence of college or university teaching.
• Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
• Demonstrated evidence of college or university service.
Preferred:
• Earned Doctoral degree and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
• Minimum of two (2) years of teaching experience in a college or university setting.
• Experience in the areas of community engagement, delivery of counseling services, and development of programs to foster cross-cultural understanding and communication.
The start date for this position is tentatively set for March 1, 2025. The position will be a 12-month appointment outside the tenure stream, within the Department of Counseling and Behavioral Health, School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences.
