Recruitment/Posting Title Assistant Professor Department SASN - Psychology Salary Open Posting Summary The Department of Psychology at Rutgers University-Newark anticipates hiring a data scientist at the assistant professor (tenure track) level to start September 2025. Multiple research areas of data science are welcomed, particularly with a focus on applying AI/Deep Learning or complex psychological models that find patterns or structure in very large datasets to the study of brain, behavior, affect, or cognition. Research areas are open and could encompass foci as diverse as computational cognitive neuroscience, predictive analysis of individual differences, lifespan changepoint dynamics, or the social science of marginalized communities. This position requires a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline such as psychology, neuroscience, computer science, or statistics. Applicants should demonstrate promise of becoming an outstanding scholar with research programs that can be supported by external funding, excellence in teaching through advancing and supporting initiatives that deepen pedagogical knowledge and sustain motivated learning in all students, and the ability to provide research mentorship to undergraduate and graduate students in the laboratory.
