The Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery provides innovative, quality care for cosmetic and plastic surgery needs while simultaneously training surgeons to become experts in the field. Its faculty are specialists in their practice, including breast reconstruction, hand surgery, pediatric cleft and craniofacial surgery, gender affirming surgery and microsurgery. The team of plastic surgeons sponsors a six-year integrated plastic surgery residency program, a hand surgery fellowship program and, together with the Department of Urology, a gender surgery fellowship program.

Function/Duties of Position

The duties of this position revolve around teaching, research, and clinical activities. The teaching duties of the position involve participating in the education and training of medical and nursing students, house staff, and the regional medical community. The faculty member will be expected to make a didactic presentation at the Division’s Grand Rounds at least four times per year. The second component of the position involves establishing and maintaining scholarly research activity directed toward the improved understanding of the causes, detection, and treatment of diseases. The clinical component of the position involves providing clinical care to patients at the University Hospitals and Clinics, as well as affiliated hospitals and clinics, and engaging in public service through consultative activities in the appointee’s specialty with non-University groups. This position will maintain a broad reconstructive practice focusing on general plastic and reconstructive surgery including - free flap reconstruction for breast, lymphedema surgery, head and neck, trauma, lower extremity reconstruction and wound care.

Required Qualifications M.D.; Board Certification in General Surgery; Board Eligibility in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery; Completion of a Micro Fellowship.Must have the ability to multi-task and prioritize;ability to be a self-starter and organized;ability to work as a team member and also independently; must possess a positive and enthusiastic attitude;possess excellent communication skills (verbal, written and active listening);and be flexible to work all day as necessary for patient demand Monday through Friday with some weekends during assigned call shifts.
