The Department of Human Development and Quantitative Methodology HDQM in the College of Education at the University of Maryland College Park is seeking applications for two full time tenure track faculty positions in the Human Development program at the assistant professor level to start August 2024 The Human Development HD program offers both graduate and undergraduate degrees The graduate program includes two specialization areas Developmental Science and Educational Psychology The undergraduate Early Childhood amp Early Childhood Special Education ECECSE is a cross departmental teacher education program for students who are interested in teaching young children with and without disabilities The Human Development undergraduate program explores the biological psychological sociological and cultural characteristics of learning and development across the lifespan through small class environments and internship experiences Both faculty positions will involve research teaching mentorship and collaboration in the Human Development Graduate program One position will be aligned with our Human Development Undergraduate Major and the second position will be aligned with the Early ChildhoodEarly Childhood Special Education ECECSE program We welcome applicants who conduct research in any area of human development We are especially interested in scholars whose research includes one or both important areas of study namely research that is Centered on the development of infants children or families from historically excluded groups eg racial and ethnic groups immigrants or in understudied contexts eg rural settings under resourced communities andor at the intersection of human development and education Focused on or has the potential to be translational andor lead to the development of intervention studies For the position that will be associated with the ECECSE program experience in andor knowledge of early childhood classroomseducation in the public school setting is especially valued The successful candidate will be expected to 1 launch and maintain an active research program 2 apply for external grants and contracts to support the applicants research 3 teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels 4 mentor masters and doctoral students and 5 provide service to the profession at the state national and international levelsThe HDQM department is committed to increasing diversity within our campus community Candidates with a demonstrated ability to incorporate diverse perspectives into teaching and scholarship as well as a commitment to working with students and groups from underrepresented backgrounds are preferred In addition to the HD program the Department of HDQM includes an exceptionally strong program in quantitative methodology from which doctoral students receive training in statistics psychometrics and research methodology The department is also home to the laboratory school Center for Young Children CYC and Center for Early Childhood Education and Intervention CECEI Faculty research interests and additional information about HDQM can be found by visiting our websitewwweducationumdeduHDQM
