Under the direction of the principal investigator, the candidate will lead and execute research projects related to the pathogenesis of SARS-CoV-2 and tuberculosis. The focus of the research performed by the candidate will investigate the association of antibody levels and effector functions associated with SARS-Cov-2 disease severity and vaccine response. The candidate will investigate the role of cholesterol signaling in SARS-CoV-2 pathogenesis to identify mechanisms associated with anti-viral activity and immunomodulation of the lung airway. Similar approach will be taken to identify pathways and/or targets associated with anti-tuberculosis activity. The candidate will prepare manuscripts for publication, take care of the day-to-day operations of the laboratory, train students and postdoc fellows, and submit research proposals and final reports for funding agencies.
The candidate will also coordinate activities of collaborative research projects and present research results to internal and external seminars and conferences. Additionally, the candidate will supervise activities of the BSL2+ COVID-19 serological lab and prepare biosafety protocols and amendments.
