Job Title Assistant Professor, Criminal Justice Agency Texas A&M University - Kingsville Department Department Of Hist, Political Sci, & Phi Proposed Minimum Salary Commensurate Job Location Kingsville, Texas Job Type Faculty Job Description Job Summary The Department of History, Political Science, and Philosophy with Criminal Justice at Texas A&M University-Kingsville invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position effective Fall 2025. All areas of research specializations within Criminal Justice will be considered. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice or Criminology at the time of the job application. Responsibilities will include teaching four 3 credit-hour undergraduate courses per semester. In addition, the responsibilities include active research and publication activities, commitment to mentoring undergraduate students, and Departmental/University-level services, including varying committees’ tasks. Active and demonstrable participation in the University’s recruiting and retention functions will be another key responsibility. Essential Duties and Responsibilities · Teaching 8 undergraduate courses per year (4 courses per semester), typically including introductory courses in criminal justice, various criminal justice agencies and operations, research methods, crime theories, and legal aspects of criminal justice. · Managing an internship program course for Criminal Justice students · Engaging in scholarly activities leading to publication in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at professional conferences · Participating in departmental and university-driven student recruitment and retention activities · Participating in committee work, both inside and outside the Department, as required · Possibly, being asked to develop a certificate program or new classes, such as cyber-crime, and deliver online courses Minimum Qualifications · Ph.D. from an accredited institution or university in Criminal Justice or Criminology at the time of this job application Preferred Qualifications · Demonstrated experience reflecting passion for teaching, particularly, students from a broad spectrum of backgrounds who may require additional educational instructions for reading and writing · Evidence of or potential for excellence in communicating with varying criminal justice agencies and community outreach for the advancement of the Criminal Justice internship program · Evidence of or potential for strong student engagement activities aimed at recruitment and retention · Experience with online or hybrid teaching formats.
