Job Scope:
The Assistant Product Manager is a highly collaborative position responsible for supporting strategic projects across a portfolio in the Allegion Australia business. This position is responsible for assisting near term and long-term profitability for the business by partnering with the product manager and executing a product plan, actively managing product value proposition, ensuring product line positioning, and all other aspects of product management within strategic initiatives. This position enables and drives collaboration and partnership with multiple functions such as, marketing, sales, manufacturing, sourcing, engineering and Allegion Inter-group companies to achieve the successful execution of product plans and development of product roadmaps.
The technical expert for the product portfolio, providing support to internal and external customers.
Primary Responsibilities
Assist in development and execution of product strategies that support Allegion business strategiesAssess current portfolio to help determine near term (tactical) and long term (strategic) elements, including make or outsource new product development, line extensions and rationalization.Creation and maintenance of detailed competitive product information including assessment of claims, features, benefits and marketing strategies to support product line positioning, selling, and pricing strategies. Support portfolio pricing strategy – maximizing revenue and margin Identify trends and needs within the market space and evaluate them as potential business opportunities.Business case support: Collaborate with Product team members to finalise business cases that detail sales forecasts, development investment, and commercialization strategy. Evaluate internal and external financial, technology, channel, and market data in order to expand portfolio roadmapsParticipation in joint activities with the marketing organization including project planning, brand strategy, pricing/discount strategy, customer research and marketing communicationsProvide product support and training to sales, customer services and other stakeholders as requiredPrepare and maintain technical documents (e.g. data sheets, installation instructions), presentation materials & product training materialsProvide product expertise and technical support to customers and internal teamsProvide technical support remotely and on-site as required to customers in a timely and professional mannerCompliance
Ensure compliance with and report all breaches of legal and operational business requirements including relevant State and Federal laws and legislation; international product standards; occupational health, safety and environmental requirements; employment law; corporate governance requirements; Trade Practices Act; privacy legislation; and policies, procedures and code of conduct.Additional DutiesCarry out additional activities as directed from time to time by the Manager of this position.Job Specification
Required Qualifications & Experience
Tertiary qualification or equivalent in a Product Management related subject or EngineeringExperience in product management, product support, program management, technical sales, marketing, operations, or business roles is idealExperience with local and offshore manufactured goods is strongly preferredAbility to influence and communicate effectively with diverse range of internal and external customers: customers, sales personnel, engineering, finance, executive leaderships, etc. Strong attention to detailStrong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and deliverables.Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholdersAbility to translate complex customer and channel needs into thoughtful, well-organized business cases and portfolio roadmaps.
