Developmental Disabilities Institute, DDI, is one of the largest providers of care to children and adults with Autism, developmental disabilities and other special needs. DDI has been a part of Long Island for over 50 years serving over 1,500 children and adults with Autism, other developmental disabilities and special needs. DDI provides innovative and expansive services to our population through various educational settings, residential services, day habilitation programs and vocational services.
What you'll do: Teach and assist individuals in all aspects of their vocational training and pre-vocational work both in the pre-vocational work area and at community worksites. Assist Vocational Program Manager in the daily supervision of Employment Specialists day to day activities, weekly schedules and transportation coordination. Assist Vocational Program Manager in the planning of and participation in weekly staff meetings. Train and supervise new Employment Specialists to work with individual(s) served. Assist Vocational Program Manager with resolving staffing issues. Participate in Interdisciplinary Team Meetings and in the development and revisions of Vocational Service Plans, Service Guidelines, and protocols. Ensures implementation and documentation of Service Guidelines, protocols and Behavioral Support Plans in accordance to the individual’s ISP. Provide protective oversight and advocacy for individuals in pre-vocational, community volunteer and/or work settings. Maintain all required annual trainings and certifications. Incident reporting and action as per 624 Regulations. What you offer us: High School Diploma, BA/BS in Social Services Field preferred Minimum of one (1) year experience hands-on teaching/instruction of developmentally disabled individuals required. Prior supervisory experience preferred Knowledge of OMRDD regulations Must be able to demonstrate tasks or model behaviors associated with work for workers. Ability to work in a variety of locations in the community. Valid NYS driver’s license and approved to drive by DDI’s Transportation Dept.
