Assistant Manager - Tax Compliance and Regulatory Reporting

ROLE OVERVIEW

The role is within the Tax Compliance team comprising of 9 members under the leadership of Emma Menzies, the Group Tax Director.

PURPOSE OF JOB

To provide, implement and operate a comprehensive tax compliance service that meets the needs of JTC clients.  This will include the preparation, submission and agreement of tax returns and the provision of all related ancillary services to ensure client tax compliance.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Prepare and submit tax returns and advise on any tax payment requirements (where applicable) in relation to the following taxes (subject to training being received):

Jersey and Guernsey corporate and partnership tax returns.
UK corporate tax returns.
CIS returns.
ATED returns.
VAT returns.
Any other taxes as directed by management.Registration of entities with the relevant tax authorities and drafting of agent authorization letters.
Prepare correspondence to tax authorities e.g., penalty appeal letters.
Assist with the central diary system relevant to client tax compliance, to ensure deadlines are recorded and subsequently achieved.
Keep up to date with changes in tax legislation that may affect our client’s tax compliance obligations.
Update clients, via the appropriate administrator, of their tax position and other tax matters of interest.
Provide guidance, training and support to colleagues within the Group from a tax perspective.
Promote within the business the range of services available from a tax perspective and where possible identify new business opportunities.
Assist the senior management with identifying and mitigating tax risks that affect the JTC business and develop solutions.
Undertake various ad-hoc projects and produce associated reporting as and when required.
Any other duties as deemed necessary by management.Awareness and adherence to contractual and statutory obligations under the Group’s policies, procedures and guidelines.
Adhere to risk and compliance procedures in relation to regulatory requirements and AML legislation.
Adhere to CPD requirements in accordance with qualification level and in-house procedures.
Adhere to the JTC core values and expected behaviors.
Develop self and always ensure knowledge in relevant field.
Develop an ability to inspire and motivate employees within the Group to sustain the Group’s unique stakeholder culture.
Any other duties as deemed necessary by management.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

Recently qualified or part qualified ACCA / ICAEW / ICAS / CTA (or equivalent).
Previous experience in a tax role.
Strong organisational and communication skills.
Ability to demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Excellent time management skills and able to work unsupervised and under tight deadlines.
Experience of tax software such as CCH and Alphatax is advantageous but not essential and training will be provided.
