Job overviewEngineering Assistant Manager – Store and Waste Management is responsible for overseeing the engineering store, ensuring efficient inventory control of spare parts, tools, and equipment, while also managing waste disposal processes in compliance with environmental regulations. This role involves optimizing stock levels, reducing waste, coordinating with internal teams and vendors, and implementing best practices for sustainability and cost efficiency.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Inventory & Store ManagementOversee the storage, handling, and issuance of spare parts, tools, consumables, and engineering materials.Maintain accurate inventory records using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) or SAP system.Ensure proper labeling, categorization, and storage conditions for all engineering supplies.Conduct periodic stock audits and implement effective stock control measures to minimize shortages and overstocking.Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure the timely availability of critical spare parts.2. Procurement & Vendor CoordinationCollaborate with the procurement team to source quality materials at optimal costs.Manage purchase requisitions, follow up on orders, and track deliveries to ensure timely stock replenishment.Evaluate and manage supplier performance to ensure consistent quality and service levels.Negotiate contracts with vendors for waste management services and recycling programs.3. Waste Management & Environmental ComplianceDevelop and implement waste disposal strategies to minimize environmental impact and comply with local regulations.Oversee waste segregation, collection, transportation, and disposal processes.Work with internal teams to promote sustainable waste reduction initiatives and recycling programs.Maintain records and documentation for audits, regulatory compliance, and sustainability reporting.Ensure hazardous waste is handled, stored, and disposed of in accordance with environmental and safety standards.4. Safety & ComplianceEnsure compliance with safety regulations for storage and handling of engineering materials and waste management.Train employees on proper waste disposal procedures and safe handling of hazardous materials.Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards in storage and waste management operations.Implement best practices to improve workplace safety and environmental sustainability.5. Reporting & Process OptimizationGenerate reports on inventory levels, stock consumption, waste generation, and disposal activities.Analyze data to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve efficiency in-store and waste management operations.Implement Lean or 5S practices to optimize warehouse organization and waste reduction.Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational sustainability.Qualification & Experiance
Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Environmental Science, or a related field.5+ years of experience in store management, inventory control, or waste management in a manufacturing or industrial environment.Strong communication, negotiation, problem-solving, analysis, and decision-making skills.Excellent technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Experience with CMMS (SAP PM, Maximo, or other maintenance software).Proficiency in ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, and inventory management tools.Knowledge of waste management regulations and environmental compliance.Relocation Assistance Eligible:
