Overview
The Assistant Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of Korea as a member of Regional Accounting and Reporting team. This role involves overseeing various accounting functions, including financial reporting, tax reporting, internal/external audit responses, and treasury-related activities. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
Financial Reporting:
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies.
Tax Reporting:
Prepare and file accurate tax returns in compliance with Korean tax regulations.
Monitor and analyze changes in tax legislation and advise management on implications.
Internal/External Audit Support:
Assist in the preparation and coordination of internal/external audits.
Respond to audit inquiries and implement recommendations for improvement.
Treasury Management:
Support treasury operations, including cash management, forecasting, and reporting.
Collaborate with banks and financial institutions to optimize cash flow.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with Korea Market to support their accounting needs.
Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing training and support as needed.
Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process efficiencies and implement best practices.
Assist in the development of accounting policies and procedures.
Ad hoc Analysis:
Conduct financial analysis and special projects as requested by management.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on supporting international operations, preferably in Korea.
Retail experience is highly preferred.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, particularly in a multinational environment.
Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel; experience with JDE E1, Coupa or Concur is a plus.
Good command of both written and spoken Korean and English, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
Strong ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
