Position Summary
Position assists with the development, scheduling, coordination, technical support and evaluation of Production Arts programs, series, and special event productions by providing technical and professional support for various City/County department/agency events. The position assures the efficient and effective management of Production Arts fiscal resources, event venues, staff, interns, volunteers, partners, contract artists and equipment. Established policies and procedures control actions. The Assistant Manager of Production Arts is required to exercise significant independent judgment when there are no available policies and procedures and errors in judgement may cause inconsistencies and inconveniences as well as regulatory and budgetary problems. Ability to recognize the need for intervention with any aspect of operation and to notify the immediate supervisor is critical. The Assistant Manager of Production Arts must be comfortable when interacting with the community, other divisions, departments and agencies, public officials and various city, state, and local officials. Position reports to the Senior Manager Production Arts.

Position Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
+ Assists with all department wide aspects of programming for the production arts section
+ Provides support and direction in the development of short- and long-range plans for assigned core program areas
+ Assists with designing and implementing programs in the areas of sound and stage production
+ Assists in the development and management of all fiscal resources, contracts and partnerships, and equipment for the production arts section
+ Assists in the coordinating training and professional development of production arts personnel and monitoring adherence to department policy and procedure
+ Assists in the assessment of the recreational needs of the community as related to production arts, plans, designs, implements, and evaluates programs and services at designated locations
+ Provides guidance to park managers across Department in all aspects of production support and programming
+ Works cooperatively with area park departments, school districts, recreation providers, community service groups, and other related agencies or organizations to maximize production opportunities in the community and minimize duplication of services
+ Assists with recruiting, hiring, training, evaluating, and advising production arts personnel, volunteers, and contractors
+ Assists in the development of budgetary needs for the production arts section, with the focus of increasing revenue and operating within the budget
+ Projects, monitors, and adjusts spending and revenue to best meet the goals and performance measurements of the section or park location
+ Oversees the ordering and purchasing of supplies, materials, and equipment for the section as well as asset management
+ Develops, negotiates, and manages fiscal resources, grants, contracts, and partnerships
+ Monitors, evaluates, and recommends improvements, repairs, or changes to production and related park resource
+ Adheres to resource management criteria of the department in the management of park facilities
+ Develops and implements the training and monitoring of adherence to department policy and procedure for section staff
+ Supports managing customer service relations of the section including all forms of communication with the public, marketing of programs and service. Works with Communications team to develop and implement a marketing/promotion plan for promoting programs and events to surrounding community and appropriate user groups. Utilizes social media platforms to highlight programs and services.
+ Assists and monitors park managers’ communication with the community, the media and other divisions, departments, or agencies
+ Maintain professionalism and responsiveness to customer inquiries and complaints, training and monitoring staff related to customer service skill.
+ Along with Operations and Communications teams, assist leadership in project research, prepare various studies, reports, and related information to advise decision-making and future planning
+ Prepares program evaluations, reports, performance evaluations, activity status reports. Uses software and variety of technology platforms to organize, document, track, and monitor work including, but not limited to, ActiveNet, InforPS, Microsoft Office Suite, Peoplesoft, NeoGov, and WebEx
+ Responsible for completing inspections and reports, and coordinating with supervisors, maintenance teams, risk manager, and DPW to ensure the safety of the park for patrons and staff
+ Must maintain confidentiality at all times

Qualifications
Minimum Job Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and two (2) years of managerial experience (or equivalent combination of education & experience) in Audio/Visual Production, Broadcast Production, or related field. Computer skills to utilize applications for word processing, data management, purchasing, budgeting, program registration, facility reservations. Computer skills to utilize standard audio/visual applications. General understanding of fiscal and personnel procedures and policy in the public sector. Ability to work productively under general supervision. Must be self-motivated, organized, honest and dependable. Must have exceptional written and oral communication skills. Must be customer service oriented. Licenses / certifications required: Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid Certification, must possess and maintain valid Indiana Driver’s License. Candidate must be comfortable working within a diverse organization and have a fluency in and commitment to matters of equity and inclusion.
