Assistant Instructional Designer - Federal Work Study
Job Description:The Assistant Instructional Designer role involves assisting in the design, creation, and execution of online classroom and technology-based training initiatives for the UF College of Pharmacy in the Lifelong Learning program. The assistant is expected to collaborate closely with Lifelong Learning Instructional Designer, various stakeholders within the program, including university members, faculty and staff within the College of Pharmacy, and adjunct faculty serving as instructors. The responsibilities encompass assisting in online course setup and design, multimedia planning and creation, meetings with stakeholders, and troubleshooting issues with students and faculty in Canvas. Additionally, the position entails assisting the Instructional Designer with significant projects and contributing to ongoing and project-based Instructional Design (ID) support for the programs housed under the Lifelong Learning program.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Assist with the course development process for new and existing courses. Ensures academic and quality standards as well as UF's vision and mission are reflected in all aspects of the student experience. Consults with Instructional Designers during the development and deployment process. Assists in the development of contextually rich, engaging, and objective-driven courses that focus on applicable real-world/workplace skills. Applies evidence-based curriculum development strategies to the design of degree programs. Identifies learning resources and maps learning resources to course or program objectives and competencies in collaboration with university partners. Develops and revises curricular materials, including competency statements, learning objectives, and other relevant documentation. Reviews learning resources and assessments to ensure proper alignment to the intended objectives and facilitates agreement for necessary changes. Ensures course development is completed on time and within budget and meets standards of quality. Conducts quality assurance reviews on courses and implements revisions. Minimum Requirements: Eligible for Federal Work Study position Federal Work Study Award Required Familiarity with online Learning Management Systems, ideally Canvas Experience in online learning technologies and pedagogies Experience with website design or online course implementation Knowledge of video conferencing software (Zoom and Teams) Must be able to go prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule; primarily remote with occasional on campus expectations based on the needs of the department.
