Assistant Editor
Haymarket Media, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Editor to join a dynamic, science-minded team of grammar nerds, otherwise known as Haymarket’s Medical Communications Group. The assistant editor will be responsible for supporting a group of websites that publish research and clinical news tailored to the needs of health care providers. This position is located in our New York City office with a hybrid schedule that allows for in-office collaboration with the team on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and remote work on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
Job Overview:
The Assistant Editor is responsible for providing editorial support integral to the development of digital clinical content for an audience of health care practitioners (physicians, nurses, pharmacists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and others). The Assistant Editor will work within a collaborative multispecialty editorial team, ensuring the efficient publication of news and feature articles across a variety of websites using WordPress, overseeing retrieval of reference materials, optimizing content for search, and publishing across a variety of social media channels.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Use WordPress to publish content on multiple websites
Assist in the creation/writing/editing of content
Oversee the procurement of reference materials for content development
Conduct photo research for graphic procurement
Edit video and audio files
Maintain Haymarket’s (and individual brand’s) social media presence across various social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn)
Skills and Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in English/Journalism/Communications or Biological Sciences preferred
Proficiency with Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Docs/Sheets) and Microsoft Word required
Proficiency with WordPress or another content management system preferred
Proficiency with Workfront a plus
Proficiency in audio and video editing is a plus
Excellent reading comprehension, listening and analytical skills, and oral and written communication skills
A successful record of handling multiple simultaneous projects independently and adhering to deadlines
Experience as a strong team player who can work independently and cross-functionally within an organization and follow through on all assigned tasks
Knowledge of SEO best practices, social media, and other digital promotional strategies

The salary range for this position is $50,000–$52,000. Compensation will be commensurate with experience, skill level, functional and/or industry knowledge, education level, certifications, as well as other qualifications.
