Assistant DON Nursing
Assistant DON Nursing Location: 119-Southern Utah Veterans Home - Ivins, St. George, UT, 84738 Job Description: The Assistant Director of Nursing is responsible for assisting the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the nursing department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. The Assistant Director of Nursing will also assist in ensuring that the highest degree of quality care is always maintained.     Responsibilities: Support the Director of Nursing: Assist in managing nursing staff and operations, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards. Staff Supervision: Oversee nursing staff, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure effective patient care. Quality Assurance: Monitor patient care practices and outcomes, implementing improvements as needed to enhance care quality. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that the facility meets all state and federal regulations, conduct audits and prepare for inspections and surveys. Patient Care: Collaborate with the nursing team to develop and implement individualized care plans for residents. Assist as needed in support of the nursing staff. Staffing Management: Help with scheduling, hiring, recruiting, and onboarding new nursing staff. Education and Training: Provide ongoing education for nursing staff on best practices, new policies, and procedures in collaboration with the staff developer. Communication: Maintain open lines of communication with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams to address concerns and enhance care. This is done verbally, written, and using multi media. Crisis Management: Assist in managing emergencies and complex patient situations, ensuring proper protocols are followed. Other Duties as Assigned: These include possible committee assignments, short and long-term projects, and other needs deemed required by the director of nursing. Skills: Leadership: Ability to lead and motivate a diverse nursing team. Clinical Knowledge: Strong understanding of nursing practices and regulations. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with staff, residents, and families. Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively. Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to address challenges and implement solutions. Qualifications: Education: Requires a nursing degree (BSN or higher preferred) and valid unencumbered Utah State Registered Nurse license. Experience: Previous nursing experience in a skilled nursing facility. Preference given for applicants supervisory or managerial experience. Certifications: Additional certifications in nursing administration or gerontology is beneficial.
