No If Temporary, enter End Date: Position Summary This assistant director is a live-off position that is responsible for leading the administration of residence life and housing operations to ensure smooth operating of all systems affecting residential students. The Assistant Director will work closely with the Facilities, Operations, and Services staff. This position will be responsible for residence hall safety and security measures (e.g. key access and monitoring systems), damage prevention and billing, sustainability practices, fire safety, as well as hall furniture and equipment procurement, inventory, and replacement. This role includes the direct supervision of professional staff. Major Responsibilities Develop policies and procedures and establish preventive measures in the areas of fire safety, sustainability, recycling, general health and safety, and vandalism that are supported through educational programming Plan, budget, schedule and implement furniture and appliance replacements for residential buildings Represent Residence Life and Housing in identifying, initiating, and managing small-scale Facilities Management projects, as well as planned building closings and renovations Assist with closing and opening of the residence halls and professional staff apartment moves Monitor and maintain inventory for residence hall furniture and equipment Coordinate the process of bidding, ordering, delivering, installation and payment for refurbishing, maintaining, and discarding, storage, recycling and donation of furniture and equipment Serve as liaison for Facilities Management which includes acting as the point of contact for any facilities related concerns, attending regular team meetings, and working closely with facilities on projects occurring in the residence halls Manage emergency situations (i.e. electric, elevators, heat and hot water) in the halls and the possible relocation of staff and students Implement policies and procedures for lock changes and key replacements, including keys for summer conferences and camps Establish and maintain preventive measures regarding residence hall building keys, to include master keys, professional staff personal keys, student staff keys and room keys Establish policies and procedures to enforce and track vandalism, investigate specific cases, determine charges and seek restitution from students while also making sure that all necessary repairs are completed. Coordination required with the Student Conduct Office and University Police in some situations Facilitate the housing damage assessment program Act as the chair of the residence hall damage appeal committee Liaison to University Police Department (UPD) regarding residence hall safety and security issues related to card access and cameras, to include budgeting and purchasing for this equipment Supervise live-in professional staff and their associated buildings and hall staffs Collaborate with other offices on campus as needed as it relates to student success Coordinate and update the inventory of Residence Life and Housing furniture Serve as the administrator on duty rotation by assisting the live-in professional staff by helping to facilitate key decisions during emergency situations and responding to student and residential incidents as needed Assist with Open House and Orientation programs, including presenting information about Residence Life and Housing, and tabling/answering individual questions Functional and Supervisory Relationships Reports to the Associate Director of Residence Life and Housing Supervises professional staff Secondary supervisor for student staff Works closely with all members of Residence Life and Housing Works with various departments on campus Required Qualifications Master’s degree Minimum of two years post baccalaureate, professional residence life experience in a college housing environment
