Assistant Director of Financial Aid
Overview Purpose of Position and Scope of Responsibility: The Assistant Director of Financial Aid assists with the administrative functions related to obtaining and awarding financial aid to all eligible University students, with an emphasis on graduate and medical students, including functions related to compliance with any regulatory body, public or private. This role serves as a liaison between various departments and external agencies that provide funding for students. This position is under the general supervision of the University Director of Financial Aid and College of Osteopathic Medicine Director of Admissions and Student Affairs. The incumbent is responsible for shifts equal to 40 hours per week. Incumbents are subject to hours beyond the normal workday. Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities: + Assist in developing and directing financial aid strategies within the framework of federal and state regulations that are consistent with the enrollment management objectives of the university to support recruitment and retention initiatives. + Maintains familiarity with laws and regulations related to financial aid. + Counsels students and family members on various aspects of financial aid programs and facilitates the application process. + Conducts financial aid seminars and markets the availability of financial aid to various groups and individuals to promote enrollment in the university. + Performs related accountabilities/responsibilities as required or directed. Minimum Qualifications: + Bachelor’s Degree in student personnel, counseling, business or related field or equivalent experience. + Three (3) years of progressive experience in the field of administering and directing a student financial aid program in a higher education setting. Desired Qualifications: + Master’s Degree in student personnel, counseling, business, or related field. + Five (5) or more years of progressive experience in the field of administering student financial aid in a higher education setting.
