Assistant Controller
Assistant Controller Req No. 2024-4891 Category Accounting/Finance Location US-IA-Cedar Rapids Type Regular Full-Time Union or Non-Union Non-Union Division Corporate Company Altorfer Inc Working Hours/Days M - F, 8-5 Overview An exciting opportunity awaits a skilled accountant to join our dynamic finance team at Altorfer Inc. As an Assistant Controller, you'll play a pivotal role in supporting the Controller with various financial tasks.  Basic Duties Assist in month-end close procedures, including accruals, depreciation, and inventory adjustmentsPerform bank reconciliations and resolve any discrepanciesPrepare and file state sales tax returns for multiple statesPrepare general journal entries and maintain supporting documentationMaintain fixed asset schedulesAnalyze financial data and provide recommendations for improvementEnsure compliance with accounting standards, policies, and regulationsSupport outside auditors and tax accountants and prepare requested workpapersCollaborate with other departments and provide accounting guidance Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting or financeCPA certification is requiredAt least 3 years of experience in accounting or auditingMilitary and veterans are encouraged to apply.Fluency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting softwareStrong knowledge of GAAP and state sales tax lawsExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skillsAttention to detail and accuracyAbility to work independently and as part of a teamAbility to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

This position works in an office environment. May, on a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required. There may be times when you may need to go out into the service shop or warehouse area and will be required to wear appropriate safety equipment (IE- Safety glasses or side shields).
