The Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Attorney General Liz Murrill, is seeking applications for an Assistant Attorney General 1 – 6 in the Public Protection Division. As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as an Assistant Attorney General 1-6, depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s). Salary offered will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate selected.

Minimum Qualifications
+ Licensed to practice law in Louisiana;
+ In good standing with the Louisiana Bar Association;
+ 1-3 years of practice experience, with litigation experience preferred;
+ Ability to work well independently and as part of a team;
+ Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail;
+ Strong communication skills to present findings effectively to various audiences;
+ Proficient in legal research.
Job Concepts
The Complex Litigation Section handles multi-district, multi-state litigation and anti-trust enforcement. These cases are often large cases with multiple states involved as plaintiffs to enforce anti-trust and consumer protections issues.
Examples of Work
The position of an Assistant Attorney General in the Complex Litigation section may consist of, but is not limited to, the following duties:
+ Work in the Complex Litigation Section under the supervision of the Section Chief;
+ Represent the State of Louisiana in the enforcement of state and federal unfair trade practice and anti-trust laws;
+ Lead investigations and all aspects of civil litigation, including discovery, motions practices, and resolving cases through hearings, trial or negotiated settlements;
+ Conduct research, develop legal theories, draft discovery and pleadings, conduct depositions, and present at hearings;
+ Develop legal strategies and perform investigations in partnership with counterparts in other State Attorneys General Offices and federal agencies;
+ Some travel may be necessary.
